@takingd20 “We were protecting D&D from Nazis!” Has to be the most hysterical excuse for a malicious cash grab I’ve ever heard.

What a load of crap. It's 2023... stop treating customers like they're too naïve to understand WHY you did something. We know why. When you purposely misrepresent the truth in an apology, the rest tends to fall on deaf ears.

@Funk_fu749 THIS is the right question. Now you are on the correct path. I'll give you a little hint to get you started... Game mechanics cannot be copyrighted typically. You may want to dig and find out how many mechanics WotC has a copyright on. It's 1.

People. The OGL change doesn't mean a thing, for people willing to do the hard work. You CAN still make content for any game system. You just have to do it smart. The people that learn and teach themselves how to do this will dominate the market.

Folks listen up. OGL, Paizo, Kobold Press, Open license... All this stuff going on. I highly recommend you follow Mr. @aaronwshanks He is the face of Paizo out in the wild and following him will probably give you some insight over the next few weeks. Trust me.

When I said PF2e wasn't for me but I still liked the company and that other people should still give them a try... This is exactly why. Bro. Hilarious. I love this so so much.

@Michael73604823 Which... Again... Is exactly my point. The people who understand all of that, will win. The people scared of that will either sign or be too scared to make their own stuff because they didn't do the research and work. Being sued doesn't mean anything if you protect yourself.

@Michael73604823 No? Just don't sign the OGL. That's literally my point. The smart people are going to dominate the market because they will put the work in to work around potential infringement of WotC IP.

@IGRifffinsports This is EXACTLY my point. Don't use their OGL. I mean this with respect here... But your assumption that you would even be using the OGL is quite literally my entire point of why nothing has really changed for 3PP.

DnD Beyond. THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE HERE. I called this so so hard! @dungeoncraft I know we see eye to eye on so much, but I said the VTT was going to change everything. They believe, like me, that the VTT is the future. Monopolizing it and destroying their own distributors.

@Michael73604823 Asinine? Why? I'm not saying WotC is RIGHT, I'm simply saying that people who want to jump into the industry have never had a better opportunity than right now.
