I’m still not understanding why *teachers* have to negotiate for there to be education assistants in *their* contract. EAs are required. It should be a given that they are hired. Nurses don’t have to negotiate for there to be other types of staff to support patients.

So now Dani wants to give teaching certificates to people who haven’t got a B.Ed.? Just like the U.S.A.—because their education system is so great 🙄. Expertise in subject matter does not mean that a person knows how to teach it to *other* people. Two different skill sets!!

A talking point: A 2023 study shows Alberta teachers work an *average* of 53 hours a week. The majority work more than 45 hours a week. If someone works 50 hours a week for 40 weeks (the school year), they have put in the same hours as a 40-hr work week with 2 wks vacation. 1/6

FYI... Alberta teacher's were offered 12% over four years, which is 3% each year, not 12% in one year. For some background... teacher's have had a 0% increase in NINE of the past 12 years. And the few years they got a raise it was 1.8% and 2%. But their main concern isn't…
