A side-by-side comparison of Aproach Prima on soybeans vs no fungicide. Application was done at R3. As seen in the picture a pass and a half of Aproach Prima was applied in the middle of the field. Near Laurel, IA. Aproach Prima: 74.2 bu per acre Check: 66.7 bu per acre

How much water does the crop need yet? Many corn field in NE IA in the late dough early dent stage... so a couple more rains are definitely needed!! Many soybeans in the R5.5 stage..

Folks wondering about "planting b 4 the rain" Going 2 b warm rain & stay warm. If long range forecast accurate, corn will b up b4 soil dries out to form crust. 10 day ECMWF & 16 Day GFS showing lot of H2O potentially coming. Keep planting if soil fit!

Not the fall to let corn dry down in the field. Stalk integrity on even the best hybrids has been compromised by the drought. This field will likely be 230+ bu/ac but took the stalk reserves to do it. Check your fields!!!

How much are we losing? Graphic shows yield loss in killing frost at "dent" stages. Won't lose all of this if don't make it to Sunday, a large chunk could be realized in rapid death Ex 1/4 milk line (R5.25) has 25-35% loss may b possible 2 lose half, 12-17% in extreme situations

Results from last weeks Pioneer Sales Rep pre Pro Farmer Crop Tour! As expected variability across every field, county, plant date, fertility program, etc. Fields range from last years highs 2 lows not seen since 2012. Heat this week could easily take #'s down another 5-10%.

Disease prediction model update. Tar Spot risk increasing in areas that have seen the most rain. Looking like shortly after pollination fungicide applications will be recommended. Stay tuned. Will let you know when the model says pull the trigger.

Unfreaking believable this year. I haven’t made a spray rec for soybean aphid in 10+ years, I’ve never made one in June, but I found fields that need control this morning.

CRW are back and right on schedule. 700 GDU's is when we start looking and didn't take long to find some yesterday afternoon. Let's hope for a Fathers Day rain like 2022 to activate insecticides!!

Some calls on “dicamba” injury on Enlist soybeans. Pics show “drawstring” effect, which is different from dicamba cupping. Drawstring is caused by environmental/weather impacts or Group 15 herbicides like Dual/Warrant/Zidua. Typically no yield impact

7am soil temps. Looks like a warmup coming later this week that might stick around??? B safe our there this week!!

7pm last evening was 46.2 degrees , 7am this morning 39.4. The ISU temps are in the ball park. If you are planting into these soil temps know the risks. Just like livestock... the 1st 24-48 hrs r the most important. 45+ & warming best chance for success!

🌽 Yield Update: Here is 50:50 plot with Dekalb & Pioneer near Northrop, MN.  Outstanding Performance from Pioneer w/ a plot average of 259.1 bu/A vs. 249.8 bu/A from Dekalb, that’s a 9.3 bu/A advantage! Pioneer took 8 of the top 9 spots with other spot being Croplan not DeKalb.

Soybean harvest moisture can have large impacts on final yield. Multi-year study shows being aggressive with harvest pays. Likely going to be green stems to chew thru w/13-14% soybeans but yield increase should justify the extra fuel and combine hours from slower ground speed.

Kernel size plays huge role in yield. If est. yields contact local Pioneer rep 4 "divide by number". Pioneer "kernel flex". 14x35 long x 32k ears/90 (old # used)=174 bu/acre 14x35 long x 32k ears/65 (likely with kernel in pic)= 241/bu/acre. Kernel almost as big as my thumbnail!
