💔 My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA. While I’ve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much more—their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability 🙏 As a mom, I can’t imagine the pain and fear of not having a safe place for your babies so I’m launching an emergency fund through my nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact to support displaced families with young children. I'm starting with a personal contribution of $100,000, and will be matching additional dollars raised up to $100,000 more. I am looking for others to donate and match alongside me to do our part! Together, our donations will support our young families and pets to: 💼Provide cash assistance to families via emergency relief organization @COREresponse 🏨Provide short-term housing and hotel stays for families with little ones 🛍️Delivering essentials and supplies to evacuation centers (I will be volunteering this weekend) 🐾 Supporting local animal shelters working tirelessly to protect displaced pets This effort could not be possible without collaboration and a sense of urgency: I’m immensely grateful to partner with Amy Marks Dornbusch for mobilizing private female funders to support this effort so that we can launch today starting with $200,000, @CORE for distributing cash assistance to our families while they navigate their needs, @Baby2Baby for distribution of much needed supplies for babies and young children and more. Let’s come together for LA. Every dollar makes a difference, and we’ll make sure the support reaches those who need it most. Donate here: every.org/1111-media-imp…

@mattgaetz If they wouldn't come around without the "gifts" then it is quid pro quo -- and you know that. But good luck with the spin LOL.

You are safer from unreasonable search and seizure in an airport today, thanks to @brendankeefe of @ATLNewsFirst. For 10yrs+, @DEAhq and local police have been snatching up cash from flyers and paying kickbacks to airline informants. youtu.be/AsmVfa3BvvY

@richontech There are times when it may be preferable. Recently I had unreliable same-day delivery. Package theft, etc. Work, hotel or other business locations might introduce uncertainty about receiving a package. I use pickup during travel. If you can't pickup the item is auto-returned.

May 2 would have been the 74th birthday of James Byrd, Jr. and June 7 will mark 25 years since his brutal death. He is one of the namesakes of our nation's Hate Crime Prevention Act (along with Matthew Shepard who was murdered ~4mo later in 1998). youtu.be/HmetUwqtD8g

Great time getting to watch the Super Bowl with Stonewall Dems. But TVs went on the blitz during the Rihanna performance — talk about terrible timing! Nice seeing Mayor Henry Lo, LA County Assessor @JeffPrang and Mayor @KonstantineinCA!

A conservative city council has banned the LGBTQ+ flag from government property in Huntington Beach. Another attempt to marginal LGBTQ+ individuals. But hate cannot be allowed to win. Not in California. Not anywhere.

“The reason Republicans are going after Mr. Schiff is that he has been so effective. McCarthy might have laid the groundwork for Mr. Schiff to succeed Ms. Feinstein not only as a senator but also in a leading role on the Senate Intelligence Committee.” washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/…

Yesterday, the Public Safety Committee approved a $54 million contract for 236 police officers to patrol the Metro for just 6 months. That's over $225k per officer, for only half a year. Let's talk about what that means.

Hugo Soto-Martínez @HugoForCD13

Think about how we could use that money to improve our Metro system. We could have: ✅Fare-free Metro ✅More frequent service ✅Clean trains and busses ✅Unarmed professionals to help folks dealing with homelessness or mental health issues. As a city, we need to do better.
