Mayfield CC Bert Way - 1911 A classic parkland course that was built over some beautiful rolling land. The course has a bunch of really fun holes, and nice variety throughout. Fun fact… Bert Way was the head professional at the club for over 50 years!

Minneapolis Golf Club Willie Park Jr. & Donald Ross - 1920s A great course (and club) that remains underrated. I really liked the recent bunker work done by @jeff_mingay, as I think the project enhanced a bunch of holes. Not a bad place to spend a few hours…

Interlachen CC Donald Ross - 1921 One of the great championship venues in the Midwest. The recent restoration work by Andrew Green looks terrific, and plays beautifully. In addition, I love how the place embraces & celebrates its history.

Sunnehanna CC A.W. Tillinghast - 1923 A wonderful course - that is beautifully routed over a nice rolling property. I loved the open approaches into its fast/undulating greens. It’s definitely a place you would much rather be below the hole!

ELYRIA CC William Flynn - 1925 An underrated gem. I thought the greens were terrific, and several of the holes were standouts. I liked the variety, the routing, and the land as well.

POINT O’ WOODS RTJ Sr. - 1958 Built to challenge top players, the club served as the longtime host to the Western Amateur. I thought it had a nice routing, and a lot of good holes (No. 2 & No. 18 stand out in my mind). The trees also demand precision off the tee on many holes.

KNOLLWOOD CLUB C.H. Alison - 1924 A really good club that continues to improve as they work with Drew Rogers to implement their master plan. I really like the most recent updates out there (especially on No. 13). Fun Fact: the club hosted the inaugural USGA Mid-Am in 1981.

OLD OVERTON Jerry Pate & Tom Fazio - 1993 This enjoyable course was built on the site of an old strip mine. I thought the course had nice variety amongst the holes and I particularly enjoyed a couple of the shorter Par 4s, and several picturesque Par 3s.

TWIN ORCHARDS - RED C. D. Wagstaff - 1928 A fun course with several memorable holes and an interesting routing. The club has two courses, on about 260 acres, and one of the things that stood out to me was how interwoven the two routings were. I thought it added to the charm.

THE CLUB AT GOLDEN VALLEY A. W. Tillinghast - 1914 I love a little quirkiness in my routing, and the club checks that box thanks to 6 Par 5s & 5 Par 3s. In addition, the course has nice rolling land, and a bunch of fun holes. The greens are slick, tilted, and well bunkered too!

MINNEHAHA CC Langford & Moreau - 1922 A delightful walk. The course has a fun routing that takes advantage of the nice rolling land. I really liked several of the tee shots, and the bold contouring on several of the greens. It’s always a treat to get out early.

THE FIELDS GC Mike Young - 1989 One of the best values in golf. There are a bunch of really fun holes, and the variety means you have to hit a lot of different shots. Pretty damn good for Mike Young’s first design!

CUSCOWILLA GC Coore & Crenshaw - 1998 I thought the rhythm of the course was great right out of the gate, and I loved the variety amongst the holes. The small greens demand precision iron play, and the red clay bunkers are as memorable as any I have seen. A delightful course!

WICKER POINT GC Coore & Crenshaw - 2023 The course is laid out over a nice undulating property. It has great variety, and I really liked how the routing worked its way throughout the property (including several holes on/near Lake Martin). Greens and bunkering were also terrific.

MUIRFIELD VILLAGE GC Jack Nicklaus - 1974 Jack’s Place is a stern test but, even though it beats you up, it doesn’t feel like a slog. I thought the course had nice variety, good greens, and I liked how the creek was incorporated throughout the property. Milkshake was also 10/10.

BRICKYARD CROSSING GC Pete Dye - 1993 A unique course that has four holes inside of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There are a bunch of good holes throughout the course, but I thought the back nine was the stronger of the two (better land, better variety, and better flow).

SAND HILLS GC Coore & Crenshaw - 1995 The most impactful modern golf course in America? The course is draped over incredible land, has wonderful variety, and so many great holes that it is hard to settle on a favorite. Simply put, it’s one of the finest courses in the world!

MANAKIKI GC Donald Ross - 1928 A private course into the 1960s, it’s now municipal course anyone can play. It has great bones, and I love the variety amongst the holes and the elevation changes throughout the property (especially 10/18).
