Seven Australian captains have written to the Aussie Foreign Minister to raise ‘humanitarian appeal’ in favour of Imran Khan. Led by Greg Chappell, the list includes Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Kim Hughes, Steve Waugh, Ian Chappell and Belinda Clarke. They have asked for Imran to be treated in detention with basic humanity regarding of the Pakistan politics. Two earlier letters signed by as many as 22 international captains and addressed to Pak PM have meanwhile fallen on deaf ears. #ImranKhan

IMRAN KHAN’S LIFE IS NOW CLEARLY IN DANGER! Imran Khan has repeatedly warned: “They will kill me as they killed Morsi in Egypt.” Imran Khan was fit and healthy before being placed in complete isolation in October 2025. By the end of December, he began losing sight in one eye. Despite repeatedly informing the jail superintendent he cannot see, he was denied medical attention for nearly two weeks. When a doctor was finally allowed to examine him, Imran Khan was told that the delay had caused permanent damage to his eye. There are at least a dozen CCTV cameras around his cell. The agencies monitoring him knew he could not see in one eye. The treatment was delayed with criminal intention. Since then, while almost no genuine information is allowed out of Adiala Jail, medical reports and supposed “inside information” about his health have intentionally leaked. By the end of July, social media was suddenly flooded with claims that his health was deteriorating, his hands and lips were trembling, his blood pressure was unstable, and that prolonged isolation was affecting him mentally. These reports were accompanied by fake and AI-generated images portraying him in wheelchairs and hospital beds. Why is this narrative being created? Because his captors believed he would not be able to withstand the extremely harsh conditions he was being kept in. They believed he would break, that eventually he would give up on the people of Pakistan and try to save himself. He did not. When he refused to give in they subjected him to extreme torture through complete isolation from human contact. Except for irregular weekly visits with his wife who is also in the same jail. Yet he still stands defiant and because they could not break him, they have now begun creating a fake narrative and fake optics around Imran Khan’s physical and mental health. On 18 August 2026, the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for an independent medical examination and treatment, in the presence of Dr. Uzma Khan and his personal doctor, Dr. Faisal Sultan. The order carried a two-day deadline. He should have been shifted by 20 August. The order has still not been implemented. What is the government hiding that it is willing to defy the Supreme Court rather than allow an independent medical examination? We are left with no option but to come out on the streets peacefully with two clear demands: 1. Immediately shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for a complete independent medical examination and treatment, in compliance with the Supreme Court orders of August 18, 2026. 2. Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar who has failed to take up Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan’s bail applications for over 22 months in the Al-Qadir case and 9 months in the Toshakhana case should either dispense justice or step aside.

Last couple of years, one of my greatest wishes has been to see my idol, Imran Khan, free from this horrifying, fabricated, inhuman incarceration. For probably the only real successful international Pakistani, in a sea of mediocrity, and a man who has had several amazing acts - best all rounder of his era, probably the greatest cricket captain ever ( given fractious pak cricket team, politics), sportsman beyond reproach (remember he was the guy who asked for neutral umpires because he said that when we win in Pakistan everybody says it is because of umpires, so let us get neutral umpires.,), the prime Minister who returned our pilot within just a few days without negotiation ( unlike what Musharraf did to our pilot,). Plus, the cancer hospitals he built are beyond imagination - I saw the one in Lahore decades ago - magnificent. And remember, under him, Pakistan never lost to the West indies which killed everybody else. And of course, his looks - IMO, the best looking male in the world over several decades... And the tales of his conquests ☺️ were inspirational for our generation. Even Princess Diana was moved to say " There are few sights as beautiful as watching Imran run in and bowl at Lords on a summer day". Yograj was our cricket coach in college,: the toughest coach probably in the history of India: it was a privilege to train under him because you would get hit in the mouth, and he would say just carry on , stop crying - (remember back then there was no protection beyond pad and gloves.,). He was great friends with Imran and in the evenings after a day of brutal training, he would tell us stories of how Imran trained: " if I start making you guys work that hard you will die. Imran came back from a nobody player to a world beating cricketer, simply because he just went into a training cave and worked literally 18 hours a day on his action and fitness." I pray to the universe that he be released from jail. Life simply cannot be so unfair specially for a man of his stature and contribution to Pakistan. Separately, do read his book - Pakistan, a personal history,- absolutely brilliant and not about cricket at all . And his respect for India comes through in the book crystal clear.

SALUTE to @Athersmike, someone I had the privilege of playing with many years ago, and @SkySports for doing this interview despite political pressure and standing up for Imran Khan. More sportspersons need to find their voice—not just when human and political rights are violated in another country, but, more importantly, when they are threatened in their own. How many of our sporting stars, for instance, spoke out when our women wrestlers were protesting? Sport gives you a platform. USE IT. SPEAK OUT. And STAY STRONG when you stand up to power. 🙏

Pakistan itself is proof of every negative narrative that currently prevails and pertains to it: fascism, rigged elections, military overlords, incompetent leaders; a morally bankrupt nation with kangaroo courts, delayed/denied justice, constitutional amendments to give lifetime immunity to a military General; CM of Panjab buying herself a private jet in a country bordering default; a controlled media where the mention of 'Imran Khan' was forbidden; a country rife with elitism resulting from rank nepotism and unqualified class privilege; the list is bloody endless... And the framing of PTI as working with anti-state actors is simply a cheap and desperate attempt to malign a party that won the elections in 2024 by a majority and whose power base continues to grow due to the unrelenting stupidity of the current illegitimate government. The biggest tragedy about people like you is that you instantly switch off to the need for justice due to a blind tribalism....and the fact that your allegiance is to a family as corrupt as the Sharifs speaks volumes about your intellect - and lack thereof.

Imran is as strong physically and mentally as anyone I played cricket against, but I don't know how you deal with absolute isolation for three years. I don't think he's allowed books to read. He's pretty much just got to sit there and behave himself. He's in the dark most of the time, so that's not good for your mental health. As your mental health deteriorates, your physical health is going to deteriorate. I met up with him in Pakistan six years ago, and he was still a strong, robust older man. That's not the case anymore. The sight in his right eye, apparently, is struggling. I went back to our former captains. We had 14 who wrote the first letter. We've got 23, Kepler Wessels from South Africa, obviously, and Michael Gatting, plus two others who supported this latest letter. So, it's really about just keeping it in people's minds.
