when hospitality opened with restrictions last July, it took 10 weeks to build up to 70% premises open and 60% customers returning - but it was Dec before the sector was forecast return to break even. It is why biz rates and vat suppt needed for full year #longroadtorecovery

Reducing VAT to 5% would have been a huge help to many in the industry...except we were mostly closed, so it was little help at all really. Thats why, as we look to recovery, I strongly urge @RishiSunak to extend this at his next budget and fully support the campaign #KeepVATat5

@BHHPA @Jesse_Norman The VAT reduction was welcomed but the majority of hospitality businesses in Wales have been closed since mid October and not benefited.

These are the local areas in Wales that have Covid-19 case rates above the Wales average. Some are more than 4 times the Wales average. The data does not support a national approach to a localised issue.
