I’m glad I learned not to force or rush connections with people out of pity or just because they seem cool at first. When I take my time and don’t excessively give in the beginning of a connection, it’s always revealed to me in due time what that persons intentions are.

On the other hand hypervigilance sets in when you’re constantly questioning where you stand with someone. You’re unsure if they truly care or if they even know how to care for you. It keeps the system on edge. What heals is love that is steady, reliable and consistent.

I don’t believe in denying feelings I have for someone because it’s actually painful to suppress my own love, regardless of the outcome. I recognize that loving someone doesn’t mean we are meant to be together or have a relationship. It simply means I get to experience myself.
