Here's where I'm at with the whole Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Texans deal and I'll try to be objective as I can be. -From what I have heard and seen, the Cardinals asked MHJ to do a lot of stuff that just doesn't match his specific skillset & tools. Playing middle of the field is a big one. Sounded like when he was playing in slot or perimeter, he was being thrown into plays frequently where he'd draw extra coverage (which his coordinator intended) which would obviously make it harder to seperate. That frees up every player that was commanding more targets than him & worsens his own target share. That would explain the seeming lack of interest or heart on his own end quite a bit. -A lot of the connection plays I've seen of MHJ & C.J. Stroud at Ohio State, there was frequently not a ton of seperation between MHJ & the defender covering him. C.J.'s pinpoint accuracy and anticipation with the football I'd argue is about as good as it gets, and he said himself Marv had mastered the contested catches he sent his way. For MHJ, I don't think you could put him in a better situation personally/mentally than him getting C.J. back as his QB with all things considered right now. -Houston is an awesome landing spot for MHJ because he isn't coming in being asked to be their #1. Clearly, that is Nico Collins who will make an awesome mentor. Their culture as a whole is going to benefit MHJ and he will feel at home quickly. -MHJ is going to be asked to be himself and plays will get designed that are cognizant of his skillset (rather than putting him in positions he doesn't want to be in.) He doesn't need to be Super-Man outta the gate. They'll likely increase his involvement as it goes and start him off with some basics to boost his confidence. I wouldn't expect a ton outta the gate. -I think Marvin Harrison Jr., his upside and potential, is superior to any rookie WR they could have found in the 2nd round next season. I'm not mad about the draft capital spent. Don't forget who the GM is and how capable he is of wheeling & dealing. Goodness sake, what more does the guy need to do just going off of this season alone? Nick Caserio isn't just gonna sit & twiddle his thumbs. -I think the Texans can expand MHJ's skillset beyond where it stands as of right now. I think they're going to take the one day at a time approach with him right now, but down the road, I bet they get the most outta him beyond what he can already do. -Going beyond 2026, this WR room is going to be FUN!!!! #HTOWNMADE
