Kafka's Metamorphosis is about capitalism turning people into monsters towards those they perceive as unproductive. The point isn't that you should also act like that.
Kafka's Metamorphosis shows that it is hard to love somebody who is physically repulsive and doesn't make money. Nobody can love you only for who you are on the inside. Unconditional love does not exist.
It’s so dehumanizing to have the pathology that makes you suck at school and work and great at wasting time doing bullshit because why would anyone believe you’re not making that up
ADHD is genuinely one of the worst fates someone can face id trade my kidney not to have it
You ever noticed that it’s socially acceptable to tell poor people how to spend their money? But when we ask the rich to stop hoarding wealth, the response is always “it’s their money.”
incredibly baller to not only have the best marketplace for games but have your own games be the top played on it
Deadlock just broke the 300,000 concurrent player mark, making it the third most popular game on Steam at the moment.
There's not really a nice way to say: "you have to genuinely decide for yourself that you are tired of it and everything that makes you feel that way and decide that you need to take the action to reverse course" because most people feeling that way desperately want an "answer"
unfortunately its true. mental illness does not just go away by itself. you do need to actively try to treat it. sorry but it is true.
Disco Elysium is so cool I wish being cripplingly mentally ill while trying to navigate a confusing world inhabited by people with nonsensical ideologies who refuse to acknowledge the world is slowly ending was real
I think what made Disco Elysium so good and "old school" is that its developers drew from literature and their own tabletop stories while most other games were already unable to create something new because all their devs knew was other videogames, which they then remasticated
Remember: Game designers in the 80s and 90s were computer science majors who loved literature, classic fantasy and AD&D. There is a very obvious reason the AAA market had been declining for so long. I don't need to spell it out.
At some point the genre of "video essay" shifted from "interesting 30-minute video I can watch on my lunch break" to "some guy retelling the plot of an entire show for 8 hours".
The worst thing about getting into yt video essays is slowly realising that all the best video essayists have already retired.
Sadly true
a lot of people think the autistic sense of justice is about fighting against the great injustices of the world but in actuality its about caring way too much about extremely mundane shit or feeling the need to insert oneself in drama you have no business being involved in
This is intentional game design that is a direct downstream of point and click adventure games and Visual Novels. The game didn't trap you. You just don't like that the game makes you work for an ending.
literally almost any rpgmaker game made before 2015-2016ish fell into this exact trap and i genuinely wonder where this even stems from
The best suicide prevention would require everyone to pay attention to what disabled people/disability scholars are saying but no one wants to do that (including leftists) so we’re stuck in this loop and kind of useless conversation of “checking in” on suicidal people.
Simply put, games are just a vehicle for socializing about the newest thing. People treat them like checklists to fulfill so they can be the first ones to talk about it. They don't actually like games. It's an obstacle to them. They just want to get to the finish line faster.
What is going on in gaming nowadays? - People skipping all cutscenes in story games - New FF7 letting you auto-level so you can skip the grind/side content - Enable "no death" modes from settings - Options where the game plays by itself for you - Skip boss options ?????????
The main reason why most people don't succeed at anything is because they're not prepared to be bad at something for a long time.
honestly this rewired my fucking brain
Kind of missing the point of the whole game. The designer of the game is a communist. He doesn’t like police officers, nor centrists - yet he made one of the most likeable characters one. You must ask yourself why!!
kim kitsuragi is so fucking beautiful and perfect they had to nerf him by making him a centrist cop
el nervio de poner este tweet en plena ola de manifestaciones por la vivienda y siendo Barcelona una de las zonas más tensionadas en la que su propia gente no puede vivir en su ciudad debido a los pisos turísticos o los expats 🥰👍🏼
NPCs will literally lie to you about shit if they don't like you lol
the passage of time is going to psychologically cripple you post covid permateens when it comes to pass. have fun with that!
