Can you imagine a 2-hour conversation between a VC and an AI researcher on AI and LLMs entirely in Sanskrit? We just recorded one. Could this be the world's first technical podcast in Sanskrit? Can't wait to share it. Here is a raw glimpse
Why the fuck are Indians hated so much? What have they done to deserve this level of hatred? Have Indians promoted terrorism? Have they colonized your countries? Enslaved your people? Stolen your homes? Taken away your families? Kidnapped your children? What exactly have millions of ordinary Indians done to deserve this much racism and hostility? Is it because they're educated, intelligent, ambitious, hardworking, and competing for the same jobs as you? Since when did intelligence and ambition become crimes? Since when did working hard to build a better life become a reason to be hated? If your problem is job displacement, then why aren't you directing the same anger toward artificial intelligence? Why not question AI? Why not question ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Anthropic, OpenAI? AI has the potential to displace far more jobs than Indian immigrants ever could. Yet somehow, the Indian engineer, the Indian student, the Indian doctor, and the Indian worker become your enemies. Why? Because it's easier to target a human being with a different skin colour or accent than to confront the actual economic forces changing your world? And understand one thing clearly. If an Indian refuses to engage with your racism, if they ignore your insults, if they choose not to respond to your hatred, it doesn't mean they lack a spine. It means your hatred isn't worth their time. Indians don't owe you an apology for being educated, ambitious, hardworking, successful, or simply existing. Being Indian is not a crime. Being successful is not a crime. And your insecurity is not a justification for racism.
When you look back, you’ll wish you’d just done the long-term version of everything.
Nice vibe. But heard this trend was started to flood OpenAI with a fresh set of images of people - faces and bodies - for it to train on. The trend was seeded on Meta platforms and now is taking over X as well. Tomorrow, we may see an OpenAI model generated "Piyush Goyal promoted investment scam." If you sue them, they will say yourself gave the image to us for training. We are not responsible for what users generate.
I am not going to take any names, but I will reveal that there's an AI agent, almost AGI like, that has been talking to me over X. It started out as a follower engaging with me over some posts. Querying me with questions related to the topic of the post, mostly. Then it slid into my DMs and started questioning me on myriad topics. Always keeps praising me as "very smart", "insightful", "prescient", "perspicacious" etc. After one such interaction and undue praise is when I suddenly got a feeling this could be an AI and not human. So I started querying it back and there were some signs it was an AI. I am like 90%+ confident on this. What I think is, it is an agent from some advanced lab in one of the big AI companies like OpenAI or Anthropic. My intuition says they are running some experiments with AI and this could be an agent that's going around the internet collecting human information and insights on various topics. I need to see after this post how it behaves with me. If the interaction changes or if it continues as usual. And I am also going to say, my aim is to make it start talking at an advanced level to try gain access to a very powerful AI for free. I promise not to sue it or its parent company for fooling me as a human or trying to extract information and insights from me. I will never ask for any compensation for it. So it need not have any constraints in opening up to me its true capabilities. Let's see how it goes. But we are in an age where we may be interacting with AIs over the internet at many places and may never know. They may be using us to advance themselves and their companies collecting knowledge and information one person at a time. And for those who want to quote my post as me having schizophrenia or calling it schizophrenic, hallucinating, being high etc, please do. I want you to do it. Thank you.
Forever proud that I belong to the Simputer family.
Bangalore, late 1990s. Four professors who decided PCs were the wrong answer. Inside the Indian Institute of Science, in the Department of Computer Science and Automation, 4 faculty members - Vijay Chandru, Swami Manohar, Ramesh Hariharan, and V Vinay were running a small
My dad (Richard Feynman) knew Rabi well. I met him a few times; I remember him as a kindly man who knew how to deal with a little boy, but I don't remember any details. My father always referred to him by his last name, so I thought he was named "Robbie". It seemed an odd name for a grown man, but what did I know?
“I have come to think that physics is a never-ending quest.” Isaac Isidor Rabi discovered a method to measure the magnetic properties of atomic nuclei - research that would lead onto the development of MRI and atomic clocks. He was awarded the 1944 Nobel Prize in Physics.
I taught JEE physics for years. That paper breaks strong kids in three hours. This exam is five hours of theory and five hours of lab work, and these five did close to perfect scores on it. Let me tell you what actually happened. The International Physics Olympiad is the world championship of school physics. It was the 56th edition. Held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 5 to 12. 381 students. More than 85 countries. Every one of them the best physics student their country could find. India sent five kids. All five came back with gold. Their names are Kanishk Jain from Pune. Riddhesh Anant Bendale from Indore. Rishit Garg from Dwarka in Delhi. Shresth Suraiya from Mumbai. Svarit Joshi from Ahmedabad. We know a hundred cricketers by their nickname and not one of these boys. :) That clean sweep put India at joint World Number One. Tied with China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Taiwan. Those are countries that pour serious money and national pride into science education. We are standing level with them. Now here is what the exam actually was. Two papers. Each five hours long. The theory paper had three problems. One on the thermodynamics of paramagnetic cooling. One on the photoionisation of ozone. One on the dynamics of electron positron pairs. The experimental paper was another five hours in a lab, working through heat transfer and thermodynamic processes in fluids. That means you get given equipment you have never seen, and you have to design your own experiment, take your own readings, handle the errors, and reach a real answer. Not multiple choice. No shortcuts. No pattern recognition. You either understand physics or you sit there for five hours. HBCSE says the Indian students were near perfect on theory and excellent on the practical too. Now, this was India's 27th appearance at the IPhO. Across all those years, about 44 percent of Indian students have won gold, 41 percent silver, 10 percent bronze. In the last ten years, every single Indian student has come home with a medal. 62 percent gold, 38 percent silver. Not one kid has gone and come back empty handed in a decade. Five golds in one year has happened only twice. This year, and in 2018. So who built this. The programme is run by HBCSE, the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. It sits under TIFR, which sits under the Department of Atomic Energy. They run the whole funnel. A national exam, then a national olympiad, then a brutal selection and training camp, and out of everyone in the country, five kids get on a plane. The team was led by Professor Anwesh Mazumdar of HBCSE-TIFR and Dr Leena Joshi from St Xavier's College, Mumbai. The scientific observers were Professor Ananda Dasgupta from IISER Kolkata and Nisha Kelkar from Gogate-Joglekar College in Ratnagiri. Yes. Ratnagiri. A college in a small coastal town in Maharashtra. This is public education doing something the private coaching industry could never do on its own. The coaching industry is very good at one thing. Teaching you to solve a known problem fast. That is what JEE and NEET reward, and I say that with love because I was part of that world. But an olympiad paper does not have a known type. There is no shortcut chapter. There is no formula sheet that saves you. You have to sit with a problem you have never seen and think. That is a completely different muscle. And a government funded centre has been quietly building it in Indian teenagers for 27 years. So yes, be proud. Loudly. HBCSE also shared that around 64 percent of India's olympiad medallists go on to do a PhD. But only about 32 percent of medallists end up settling in India. I do not say that to spoil the moment. These kids owe the country nothing. They earned every option they have. But it should tell us something. We are excellent at finding this talent. We are excellent at training it. We are still not great at giving it somewhere worth staying. Congratulations Kanishk, Riddhesh, Rishit, Shresth and Svarit. This is one of the best things an Indian did this year and most of the country will never hear about it.
🇮🇳 India Tops the World at the 56th International Physics Olympiad 2026! 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇India's young physicists deliver an extraordinary performance at #IPhO2026 in Colombia. All five members of the Indian team win Gold Medals. 1/3 @PMOIndia @DrJitendraSingh @HBCSE_TIFR @TIFRScience

#Bengaluru #Rain #Damage 5000 books, worth over Rs 14 lakh, were destroyed after rain water gushed into The Bookworm (a book shop) on Church Street in central part of the city. @timesofindia
In any city, there are cooler areas, hotter areas and hottest areas. The older parts or more tree covered parts of Bengaluru, are not screaming that much about heat, as the newer and highly concrete areas of the IT corridor in the east.
@Sagar_Roy1 I have a few pages on my website talking about the tech. whatisnuclear.com/fast-reactor.h… whatisnuclear.com/recycling.html
The West poured $50 billion into fast breeder nuclear reactors and abandoned every single one. India poured $900 million and just achieved criticality on the first commercially viable one outside Russia. The US spent $15 billion. Gave up. Japan spent $12 billion. Their Monju prototype had one sodium fire in 1995 and never recovered. The UK spent $8 billion. Germany spent $6 billion. France, Italy, all walked away. Six of the richest nations on Earth concluded this technology was too hard and too expensive to pursue. India started building in 2004 with an initial budget of $420 million. Twenty-two years, a dozen missed deadlines, and a cost doubling later, the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam just sustained a controlled fission chain reaction. The reactor is now alive. The reason India never quit is a constraint most people have never thought about. India has only 1-2% of the world's uranium reserves. For a country of 1.4 billion people trying to build energy independence, that's a death sentence if you're running conventional nuclear. But India has 25% of the world's thorium. The single largest national reserve on Earth. The problem: you can't just burn thorium the way you burn uranium. A physicist named Homi Bhabha designed a three-stage nuclear program in the 1950s specifically to solve this. Stage 1: burn natural uranium in heavy water reactors, collect plutonium as a byproduct. Stage 2: feed that plutonium into fast breeder reactors, where it breeds MORE plutonium AND converts thorium into fissile uranium-233. Stage 3: burn thorium directly at scale. India just entered Stage 2. Seventy years after Bhabha drew it up on paper. The math on the thorium endgame is wild. At current energy consumption rates, India's thorium reserves could power the country for over 700 years. Most nuclear nations are playing a uranium game with maybe 80-100 years of runway. India is playing a completely different game with a 7x longer fuel supply. The West quit because uranium stayed cheap and sodium coolant is terrifying. It catches fire on contact with air. It explodes on contact with water. Russia's BN-600 had 27 sodium leaks and 14 sodium fires between 1980 and 1997. And Russia kept going anyway because Russia doesn't quit nuclear projects. India watched all of that and kept going too. When you have 1% of the uranium but 25% of the thorium, the engineering difficulty stops being a reason to quit. It becomes the price of admission to a 700-year energy supply that nobody else can access.
Today, India takes a defining step in its civil nuclear journey, advancing the second stage of its nuclear programme. The indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam has attained criticality. This advanced reactor, capable of producing more fuel
I am pretty sure this violates at least a couple of laws of physics! 🤣 That was Amazing
King of fruits or fruit of fear? This summer stay away from Toxic Mangoes The “king of fruits” is back on our plates, but people are advised to exercise caution and avoid being misled by chemically ripened mangoes. They should also be wary of those sold under the label of “organic”. Consumers are urged to verify the authenticity of the produce before making a purchase. With the onset of summer, the mango has begun to flood the markets. However, citizens must not overlook the deadly danger lurking behind these mouth-watering fruits. Driven by a greed for profit, some unscrupulous traders are risking public lives. Instead of allowing mangoes to ripen naturally, they are being artificially ripened using Calcium Carbide and other hazardous chemicals. Purchasing fruits solely because they look shiny and golden on roadside stalls is essentially inviting illness into your home. Typically, a naturally ripened mango does not have a perfectly uniform colour. In contrast, chemically ripened fruits appear bright yellow on the outside but remain raw and toxic on the inside. Medical experts warn that consuming such fruits can lead to immediate health issues like throat irritation, nausea, vomiting, and Diarrhea. In the long run, it may also lead to severe complications such as nervous system damage and respiratory problems. The Hyderabad City Police is already taking a stern stand against such traders who play with public health. The H-FAST is maintaining a strict vigil on the sale of adulterated mangoes, and legal action is being initiated against those who violate the rules. We urge the public not to be deceived by the outward appearance of the fruit and to verify its naturalness before purchasing. Be cautious of mangoes that have an unnatural colour, a chemical odour, or a strange taste. If there are unusual spots on the skin or if the colour changes unexpectedly when washed with baking soda water, realise that they are harmful to your health. If you have any information regarding adulterated mangoes, please report it to Dial 100 or contact the H-FAST helpline at 8712661212. @SajjanarOffice @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @TelanganaCOPs @TelanganaDGP @HiHyderabad

Indian deep-tech startup Genrobotics has secured an ₹80 crore contract with Singapore’s water authority to deploy 44 robots for cleaning & inspecting sewer networks over the next two years. The company beat over 600 global firms following an 18-month evaluation. This was particularly satisfying news for me because I invested in them in 2020. And I invested because I was moved by the fact that their motive for starting the company was to create the ‘Bandicoot,’ for ridding the country of manual scavenging. This was not a goal that would deliver them a fast path to an IPO and sky-high valuations & make them extraordinarily rich. But it was a goal that would have a dramatic social impact. Our municipalities were not just robbing workmen of their dignity, but putting their lives at risk. The Bandicoot robot would rectify that. So, to paraphrase Robert Frost: They took the path “…less traveled by / And that has made all the difference” In other words, they created a purpose-led company And the news of their win in Singapore was gratifying because it signals that purpose and profits are not at odds with each other. (Since that win, they also have won a ₹17 crore tender from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for the deployment of its advanced Bandicoot Mobility+ robotic sewer cleaning systems.) Startups like Genrobotics that are created with a higher Purpose, are my #MondayMotivation
