The UAE and Ethiopia are committing a genocide in Sudan. According to a Reuters investigation, Ethiopia is hosting a secret camp used to train thousands of RSF terrorists. The UAE is financing the camp, supplying mercenary trainers, weapons and logistical support. Colombian mercenaries are training RSF terrorists too, particularly in drone warfare. Think about that. A terrorist group accused of some of the worst atrocities in Sudan’s war is being reinforced with foreign money, foreign trainers and foreign mercenaries by legitimate governments. When the RSF captured El Fasher, its terrorists massacred more than 6,000 people in the first three days alone. Civilians were summarily executed. Women and children were raped, then executed. Women were burned alive with their babies still clinging to them. People were tortured and hundreds buried alive, with only their heads and hands exposed above the ground. They died slow, excruciating deaths as crows pecked at their heads and hands, even before they were dead. Men, women and children were killed. Thousands were taken as sexual slaves and are still being held captive to this day. Old women were raped and killed along escape routes. The scale of the slaughter was so enormous that evidence of it could be seen from space. Satellite imagery analyzed by Yale’s Humanitarian Research Lab identified multiple clusters of objects consistent with human bodies across El Fasher, including along roads used by civilians trying to escape. Piles of bodies! Visible from satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometres above the Earth. More than 14 million Sudanese have been displaced by this war. And while Sudanese civilians are being slaughtered, tortured, raped and driven from their homes, Sudan’s gold continues moving through regional networks towards Dubai. The Sudanese are bleeding. In 1804, Haiti defeated Napoleon's forces, overthrew French colonial rule and became the first independent Black republic. It was a historic victory against slavery and one of the most powerful colonial empires on earth. But France refused to accept Haiti's freedom without a price. In 1825, France demanded 150 million francs from Haiti to compensate former French colonists for their lost property, including enslaved human beings. Haiti had to borrow money to begin paying. The debt burdened the country for generations, forcing it to sacrifice resources that could have been used to build schools, hospitals, roads and its economy. Think about that for a moment. A people rose against slavery, defeated their enslavers and won their independence, only to be ordered to compensate those who had claimed ownership over them. They were forced to pay for their own freedom. This is one of the greatest historical injustices of colonialism, and the world still has not fully reckoned with it.
