I did not think that I would have to face ableism when going to the vet today for the cats. Vet told us that we "have a broken product" (the cat with a disability), then got out the abled cat and was oo-ing and aw-ing over it. It was like watching phrenology in pets. 1/6

My husband is now leaving our house because his current university mandates he teach in-person with few/no precautions to protect either himself or his immunocompromised wife. He will instead be risking my 72yo mother’s health because she’s lower risk for severe SARS2 than I am.

So sad: After 73 years of marriage, an Ottawa couple has been forced to live in separate long-term care homes for 19 months. Why? Because the Ontario government has brought in changes which make it virtually impossible to unite couples in long-term care. The system is broken.

In long-term care, do you think that only 1 nurse & 2 PSWs caring for 30+ frail elders who need assistance with bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, taking meds AND monitoring in case of decline in health...is acceptable? How do we as a society still allow this to happen?

We tried to get a DV victim into a shelter today. All women's sheters were full so we tried using the "emergency winter shelter system" and all those beds were full. This is the same system that thrives on calling people "service resistant" while there is no services available.

My friend got shot at by cops the other day in ATL and police said it was because her headlights weren’t and bc she didn’t stop immediately. She is a lawyer with a BMW, the headlights are on auto, and she pulled over as soon as it was safe 😤 I’m livid!! I’m f-ing pissed.

My hot take is that most of us have not adequately processed the trauma of the pandemic. And our sprawling, unprocessed trauma chews away at our brains in myriad ways that make us anxious about why we can’t seem to live our lives as instinctively or as joyously as we did in 2019.
