On September 21, 2007, Emily Elizabeth Haddock was taking the day off from school to recover from strep throat. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers were knocking on doors in the neighborhood, pretending to need directions. If no one came to the door of a home, the young men would enter and burglarize it. When they arrived at Emily's house, she was in a back room, working on a puzzle. Michael Currie and his associates broke in and discovered the 12-year-old girl home alone, so they shot her in the mouth and the back of the head. Emily's grandfather found her lifeless body when he came to check in on her.

Sublime texte "Le train de ma vie" de Jean d'Ormesson "A la naissance, on monte dans le train et on rencontre nos parents. Et on croit qu’ils voyageront toujours avec nous. Pourtant, à une station, nos parents descendront du train, nous laissant seuls continuer le voyage… Au fur et à mesure que le temps passe, d’autres personnes montent dans le train. Et ils seront importants : notre fratrie, amis, enfants, même l’amour de notre vie. Beaucoup démissionneront (même l’amour de notre vie) et laisseront un vide plus ou moins grand. D’autres seront si discrets qu’on ne réalisera pas qu’ils ont quitté leurs sièges. Ce voyage en train sera plein de joies, de peines, d’attentes, de bonjours, d’au-revoir et d’adieux. Le succès est d’avoir de bonnes relations avec tous les passagers pourvu qu’on donne le meilleur de nous-mêmes. On ne sait pas à quelle station nous descendrons. Donc vivons heureux, aimons et pardonnons ! Il est important de le faire, car lorsque nous descendrons du train, nous devrions ne laisser que des beaux souvenirs a ceux qui continuent leur voyage… Soyons heureux avec ce que nous avons et remercions le ciel de ce voyage fantastique. Aussi, merci d’être un des passagers de mon train. Et si je dois descendre à la prochaine station, je suis content d’avoir fait un bout de chemin avec vous ! Her community turned against her family. Their vineyards and olive groves were burned. Neighbors stopped speaking to them. The message was unmistakable: this was the punishment for saying no. But Franca’s father, Bernardo, stood beside his daughter. In 1966, Franca entered an Italian courtroom and publicly testified against her attacker. She was only seventeen. But her voice forced an entire country to confront a law that treated a woman’s “honor” as something that could be repaired by marrying the man who had violated her. Melodia was convicted and sentenced to eleven years in prison. Franca became the first Italian woman to publicly reject reparatory marriage and successfully prosecute her attacker. The law remained. It was finally abolished in 1981. Franca never wanted fame. She wanted justice. In 1968, she married Giuseppe Ruisi, a childhood friend who had stood beside her through the ordeal. They built a quiet life together in Sicily. She had survived something terrible. But she refused to let it define her — or any other woman after her. 🌹

Ce serait comme dire qu'il faut utiliser tous les couverts ou les lunettes, les tournevis ou les forets que vous avez achetés avant d'en acheter de nouveaux. Il y a des choses dans la vie pour lesquelles nous avons besoin de toujours avoir suffisamment de provisions, même si nous n'en utilisons qu'une petite partie. Si, par exemple, nous considérons les livres comme des médicaments, nous comprenons qu'il est bon d'en avoir plusieurs à la maison plutôt que quelques-uns : quand on veut se sentir mieux, alors on va au « placard à pharmacie » et on choisit un livre. un livre aléatoire, mais le bon livre pour le moment. C'est pourquoi vous devriez toujours avoir un choix nutritionnel ! Ceux qui n'achètent qu'un seul livre, ne lisent que celui-là et s'en débarrassent ensuite. Ils appliquent simplement la mentalité de consommateur aux livres, c'est-à-dire qu'ils les considèrent comme un produit de consommation, un bien. Ceux qui aiment les livres savent qu'un livre est tout sauf une marchandise."
