Early in my DevOps career, I deleted a 5GB log file from a production server that was running out of space.
I ran df -h expecting to see the disk usage drop. It didn’t.
Still showed 100% full.
No errors, no warnings. Just the same disk usage as before I deleted anything.…
A critical Linux process just died out of nowhere
As a DevOps engineer, I've dealt with this countless times in production. When it happens, every second counts.
Here's my 7-step debugging playbook:

Building a Docker-like Container From Scratch 🐳
Learn about the key Linux namespaces by assembling a tiny but realistic container using only stock Linux commands: unshare, mount, and pivot_root. No runtime magic and (almost) no cut corners.

Behind every scalable system is a queue.
Behind every outage is one used wrong.
Queues are everywhere: background jobs, event streams, message brokers.
They’re the backbone of scalable systems, but they’re also a common source of outages.
Here is my Cheatsheet 👇

SSH Tunnels Cheat Sheet 🧐
- Local port forwarding: Access private endpoints, potentially through a bastion host, as if they were locally opened ports
- Remote port forwarding: Expose local ports or private network addresses publicly via an exit node

Main Docker Container Commands (Cheat Sheet) 🔽
Running containers, attaching to them, and executing commands in containers are the key container management operations. Tried my best to explain them visually on a single diagram.
Случайные числа важны для криптографии, но компьютеры детерминированы, на них невозможно по-настоящему случайные числа сгенерировать. Для этого нужен механизм, который (практически) невозможно предугадать.

ChatGPT quietly scrubbed today nearly 50,000 shared conversations from Google's index after our investigation. They thought they'd solved the problem. They were wrong. (1/5)
Make your own vpn:
1. SSH to a host with:
ssh user@host -D 8081
2. Point your browser proxy settings to localhost port 8081, and mark it as a SOCKS v5 proxy.
3. You now are proxying your browser traffic to where that host is, like a vpn.
Vibe coded some stuff yesterday.
Happily typed in some detailed prompts and off Claude went, building exactly what I asked.
Came back to it later and realised I should be implementing it in a much different way, so all the code is redundant.
I feel like if I was manually…
