The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka & Goa Region, Bengaluru, organised the 20th Tranche of Rozgar Mela on 19th September 2026 at the 4th Floor, Cauvery Hall, C.R. Building, Queen’s Road, Bengaluru.
Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour & Employment, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at accelerating the recruitment process and providing appointment letters to newly selected candidates for various posts in the Central Government. The initiative reflects the Government’s continued focus on creating employment opportunities for the youth and ensuring their greater participation in the country’s development journey.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Smt. Vidisha Kalra, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka & Goa Region, who welcomed the Hon’ble Chief Guest, senior officers, newly recruited candidates and other dignitaries attending the programme.
Smt. Vidisha Kalra highlighted that the 20th Rozgar Mela marks a new chapter for over 51,000 newly recruited youth across 45 locations, taking the cumulative beneficiaries to approximately 12.75 lakh. She urged the appointees to view government service as an opportunity to serve citizens and contribute to nation-building, guided by integrity, excellence and empathy. She emphasized continuous learning, adaptability, technology, collaboration and innovation in the evolving public service landscape. She also acknowledged the support of families, teachers and well-wishers and conveyed her warm congratulations and best wishes to all the newly appointed candidates.
Addressing the newly recruited candidates, the Hon’ble Chief Guest Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour & Employment, emphasized that the Rozgar Mela reflects the vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 by empowering the youth through government employment. She urged the newly appointed candidates to regard government service as an opportunity to serve the nation with integrity, dedication and a sense of responsibility, rather than merely as a means of livelihood.
Describing the youth as the Amrit Peedhi, she emphasized their crucial role in shaping India’s development and strengthening public service in the years ahead. She congratulated the appointees and acknowledged the support and sacrifices of their parents and families, while encouraging them to work honestly for the welfare of the people and the nation.
The programme also witnessed the participation of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India through Video Conferencing. The Hon’ble Prime Minister addressed newly appointed candidates participating in Rozgar Melas organised at various locations across the country and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the young recruits embarking upon their careers in public service.
Thereafter, Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour & Employment, ceremonially presented appointment letters to the newly recruited candidates at Bengaluru. Around 210 candidates, selected through various nodal recruitment agencies for appointment to different posts in the Income Tax Department and other Central Government Departments, received their appointment letters during the programme.
Selfie points were installed at the venue to provide the newly appointed candidates an opportunity to capture memorable moments of the Rozgar Mela. Short video bytes were also recorded from the newly appointed candidates, who expressed their gratitude for receiving the appointment letters. The candidates shared their happiness and appreciation for the opportunity to join government service and contribute to nation-building.
The event received wide media coverage, with representatives from various print and electronic media attending the Rozgar Mela.
