The health ministry has released a new 1,000-page document with the names, ages and other info, of 52,959 Palestinians killed in Gaza. For the first 100 pages (over 5,000 names), the age is listed at 5 years or younger. The first 18 pages the age is listed as 0 (under 1 year)

Some thoughts on Israel’s current murderous rampage in Lebanon: ● Israel’s mass massacres across Lebanon should be understood as a familiar pattern of face-saving escalation that has repeatedly preceded the termination of hostilities, most notably in 2006 and again in 2024, in which overwhelming violence is compressed into the final moments of a campaign in order to reshape the narrative of its outcome as an Israeli military achievement. Israel’s framing of this final phase of brutal attacks under the theatrical title “Eternal Darkness,” underscores the punitive and entirely performative character of this escalation even as the political reality points to a clear Israeli defeat. ● This murderous rampage has been enabled by the Lebanese government’s insistence that any emerging cease-fire arrangement is neither binding nor relevant, on the grounds that it alone claims the authority to negotiate with Israel over the Lebanese file, a position that effectively aligns the state with Israel’s continuation of hostilities and which places the government to the right of Trump, who had already consented to the inclusion of Lebanon in the cease-fire framework. ● Israel now appears likely to be compelled to halt its aggression as a result of a US decision reached without prior coordination with it, a development that reinforces the perception of Israel’s structural dependence on Washington and increasingly casts it in the role of a proxy rather than an autonomous strategic actor, let alone a regional hegemon. By contrast, Iran has insisted that Lebanon and Hizbullah be included in any war-ending arrangement even at the cost of prolonging hostilities--a stance that recognizes Hizbullah as an integral component of Iran’s regional security architecture and reflects the depth of the ideological and strategic solidarity binding the two.

They’re taking down buildings without warning with people inside all across Beirut, this is devastating, it’s criminal. This is demonic.

BREAKING: Israel is now carpet bombing Tyre in South Lebanon — an ancient city with over 5,000 years of history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is central Beirut, close to the American University of Beirut. Nobody in these neighbourhoods would expect to be targeted; no warnings given. Displaced people are sheltering all around these locations. Israel has committed a huge massacre in Beirut.

🚨Iran issues warning It says the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen unless the ceasefire includes Lebanon & Gaza, warning that attacks on Lebanon will trigger a response & could halt shipping through the Strait. The warning comes following a massive wave of simultaneous attacks by Israel, against the entirety of Lebanon including its capital Beirut. The message is blunt: No ceasefire across all fronts, no ceasefire at all (where Israel is concerned).

The situation in Lebanon is at its most dangerous. The Israeli public see massacres as a military victory. Netanyahu needs to escape defeat by serving his public such a victory.

US imperial violence has done so before but perhaps not to that extent. The unhinged violence unleashed by US/israel in the last year and its seriously evil contempt for human life, have radically transformed, poisoned and polluted the moral fibres of our life world forever.

Quick guide to war terminology

Entire towns are being washed away in North Carolina, countless homes destroyed in Florida, crumbling infrastructure everywhere is unable to handle the climate crisis and the U.S. is sending billions to Israel so that they can start a regional war and murder more civilians.

What political analysis can capture this level of psychosis? Just absolutely drunk on violence, destruction, domination with no thought to anyone’s future, no vision beyond the massacre after the next massacre.
