Bizarre how it works. In Australia, we're taught to honour Country — Gadigal land, Wurundjeri land, Yugambeh land — using the names that predate colonisation, because the original name matters. But when it comes to Judea and Samaria — the actual indigenous, biblical, thousands-years-old name of that land — suddenly everyone insists on "West Bank." A term invented in 1950 by Jordan, after it occupied the territory following an illegal invasion. "West Bank" isn't ancient. It isn't indigenous. It's not even 75 years old. It's a colonial administrative label — created by an occupying power to erase what came before it. So we honour indigenous names everywhere... except where it's politically inconvenient. Call it what it is: Judea and Samaria.

Boy George has been targeted because he refused to bend the knee. He honoured the victims of Nova. He stood with Jews when much of the cultural establishment chose cowardice, silence or open hostility. Now a platform that boasts of defending independent artists has apparently decided that solidarity with Jews is one form of independence it cannot tolerate. That is disgraceful. Bandcamp cannot host endless anti-Israel propaganda, indulge the language of “resistance” and then suddenly discover its principles when an artist mourns murdered Jews. Selective enforcement is not neutrality. It is discrimination. Stop The Hate UK demands: 1-the immediate publication of the full reason for the track’s removal; 2-evidence that Bandcamp’s rules are applied consistently; 3-restoration of the song unless a clear and legitimate breach can be proved; 4-a public assurance that artists will not be punished for supporting Israel or standing against antisemitism. Boy George has shown more courage than the platform attempting to silence him. Bandcamp should restore the track, answer the public and stop hiding behind corporate evasions. Until it does, its claim to support independent music is worthless.

Having seen the infamous 47-minute compilation of the 7 Oct atrocities with my own eyes (not publicly available), I can attest that the Silenced No More report, which is freely available online, is even worse. It's just words on a page, but it leaves enough to the imagination to be even more horrific than the video. At least for me. In the 47-minute compilation, there is some evidence of sexual sadism, but not much. Probably for two reasons: proud though Hamas was of massacring Jews, they were less keen on broadcasting scenes of sexual depravity. And the Israeli government likely declined to include the most horrific footage out of respect for the victims. The report is exhaustively documented, horror story after horror story. I've read it only once, and I won't do so again. Especially the sections about the Nova festival are extremely disturbing. NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani claims Israel prioritizes one ethnic group over another… He even boycotted the Israel parade out of performative rage. But then he goes around supporting Pakistan at their rallies. Mind you, a country that kidnaps, converts, or kills you if you’re a Kaffir. The reason this video of a family being murdered in their own living room exists is because Palestinians used the victims’ phones to live stream their deaths to their families and friends. I saw an original video a day or two after October 7, when the swathe of video evidences was being poured online and the platforms hadn’t yet caught up with flagging and blocking them for violence and gore violations. I think it was this family’s video. The daughter is shot in the head as she sits next to her little brother, who completely loses it. As the mother struggles to calm her son, fearful they will tire of his screaming and kill him too, the captors start negotiating with the father to kill him out of sight of his family, in a macabre gesture of mercy. Told that they will shoot him now, in front of his wife and son, ultimately he yields. He is taken outside and shot. That video and the 12 year old girl paraded through cheering Palestinian crowds as blood soaks the crotch of her shorts from her repeated rapes…those are seared into my brain. Fvck the Islamic regime and anytime who supports their mass-murdering cult.
