This huge experiment will yield a lot of opportunities for economists to write papers on transparency and collusion (since, in areas where markets are concentrated --i.e. where there are few competing gas stations--more transparency facilitates implicit/tacit price coordination and tit-for-tat behaviour, and hence may increase prices).
