While Tarrant has more registered Republicans than Democrats, Ds have done a better job of turnout than Rs for the last several elections. I am told that even though Ds typically outperform Rs in early voting, the reduced percentage of Rs early voting against Ds at this point signals a major warning. James Talarico went viral preaching about Christianity at a time when the left needed voices to counter conservative Christians. He used the viral success of that to appear on Joe Rogan in July 2025, and launch a Senate campaign two months later. His religious message is part and parcel of his persona. That makes what he preaches fair game for scrutiny. First, he was a seminary student, not an ordained pastor. Second nearly 2,000 years, Christian opposition to abortion has been explicit. The Didache, one of the earliest Christian writings outside the New Testament, condemns it outright. Talarico says “the Bible is silent on abortion,” that life “starts when you take your first breath,” and that “God asks for Mary’s consent… You cannot force someone to create.” Genesis describes God breathing life into Adam, a man formed from dust. It does not say that every human life begins at first breath. Mary’s willing acceptance of bearing Jesus does not establish a right to end an existing pregnancy. In November 2022, he filed HJR 56, proposing a constitutional amendment that would prevent the Texas Legislature from restricting abortion access when the decision was made in consultation with a licensed physician. Genesis says, “Male and female He created them,” Talarico stood on the Texas House floor opposing legislation requiring school sports participation to be separated by biological sex, “God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is nonbinary.” In a separate committee hearing, he said there were “six” biological sexes, listing chromosome variations as additional sexes. Now that he is running statewide though, he says there are two sexes and acknowledges that his earlier statement was wrong. He also says he was “being provocative” with the nonbinary remark. That’s only because he can’t win on that message in a national race. The racial language he used is also disqualifying. After Ahmaud Arbery’s killing, he wrote: “White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus. But we spread it wherever we go—through our words, our actions, and our systems. We don’t have to be showing symptoms—like a white hood or a Confederate flag—to be contagious.” You can’t say that about any race or religion that’s called collective guilt and we don’t practice that as Christians. Christianity requires us to confront injustice and examine our own conduct. It’s a personal commandment not a collective one. The pattern is that Talarico repeatedly presents disputed political conclusions under the authority of Christian teaching. Jesus warned us: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing.” He also gave us the test: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” He chose to run on his Christian worldview, he should be judged by it. And if you are a Christian his public distortion of Christianity is disqualifying. And if you’re not a Christian his position on multiple genders and his refusal to protect women in sports is also disqualifying.

The doctors and laws meant to protect me failed. Adults led me into decisions I can never undo. Missouri’s kids don’t have to have the same fate. Vote Yes on Amendment 3 to make sure that protections for children don't expire.

Alors aujourd'hui, je vais vous expliquer, par A + B, pourquoi la notion de « far right » telle qu'on l'utilise en France n'a à peu près aucun sens. Et pourquoi ceux qui la brandissent sont souvent les derniers qui devraient donner des leçons. Commençons par la seule question qui compte : qu'est-ce qui fait qu'un système politique marche ou ne marche pas ? En très grande partie, c'est l'économie. Un pays qui produit de la richesse, qui laisse ses citoyens créer, échanger, entreprendre, tient debout. Un pays qui détruit ça s'effondre, peu importe la beauté de ses slogans. Et en économie, il n'y a au fond que deux grandes visions du monde. La première, c'est le collectivisme. L'idée que l'État sait mieux que vous. Qu'il doit planifier la production, fixer les prix, diriger les entreprises, décider ce que vous gagnez, ce que vous achetez, et à la fin ce que vous pensez. L'individu n'est qu'un rouage au service d'un grand projet collectif : la classe, la nation, la race, le peuple. La seconde, c'est la liberté. Le capitalisme, la propriété, la liberté individuelle, la responsabilité individuelle. L'idée que des millions de personnes qui créent de la valeur les unes pour les autres produisent infiniment plus de prospérité qu'un bureau de planificateurs, aussi brillants soient-ils. Maintenant, regardez la liste des grands régimes totalitaires du XXe siècle. Staline : planification intégrale, collectivisation forcée, des millions de morts. Mao : le Grand Bond en avant et la plus grande famine de l'histoire humaine. Pol Pot : abolition de la monnaie, vidage des villes, près d'un quart de la population cambodgienne exterminée. Mussolini, l'inventeur du mot fascisme : « Tout dans l'État, rien hors de l'État, rien contre l'État. » Et Hitler, à la tête du Parti national-socialiste des travailleurs allemands, dont le programme proclamait « l'intérêt général avant l'intérêt particulier ». Il a soumis toute l'économie allemande aux plans de l'État : plan de quatre ans, gel des prix et des salaires, syndicats dissous dans un front du travail unique, industriels qui produisaient ce que le régime décidait. Leurs drapeaux étaient différents. Leurs ennemis désignés étaient différents. Mais la mécanique était la même : l'individu n'existe pas, seul le collectif compte, et l'État décide de tout. Pourquoi est-ce que ça finit toujours en totalitarisme ? Parce que le collectivisme ne marche pas. Et quand un système ne marche pas, il n'a que deux options : reconnaître son échec ou forcer les gens. Ils choisissent toujours la force. Ludwig von Mises l'a démontré dès 1920 : sans prix libres, sans marché, un planificateur ne peut tout simplement pas savoir quoi produire, en quelle quantité, ni à quel coût. Il navigue à l'aveugle. L'économie planifiée n'est pas une version moins efficace du marché, c'est une impossibilité. Friedrich Hayek en a tiré la conséquence politique en 1944 dans La Route de la servitude, un livre qu'il a dédié « aux socialistes de tous les partis ». Un chapitre s'intitule « Les racines socialistes du nazisme ». Un autre, « Pourquoi les pires arrivent au pouvoir ». Pour Hayek, contrôler l'économie, ce n'est pas contrôler un secteur parmi d'autres, c'est exercer « le contrôle des moyens de toutes nos fins ». Celui qui contrôle votre pain contrôle votre vie. Puis votre parole. Puis votre pensée. Milton Friedman l'a résumé à sa façon : une société qui place l'égalité avant la liberté finit sans l'une ni l'autre. On sait donc exactement ce qui marche. Ce n'est pas une opinion, c'est un siècle d'expériences grandeur nature. Il faut écouter l'école autrichienne, Mises, Hayek, et Friedman à Chicago avec eux : liberté économique, État limité, responsabilité individuelle. Et c'est là qu'on arrive à l'inversion accusatoire. Une partie de la presse de gauche passe son temps à crier au fascisme. Pourquoi ? Parce que le fantasme du fascisme est le meilleur moyen de ne jamais parler du bilan de ses propres idées. Au fond, ils le savent : si leur programme collectiviste était appliqué jusqu'au bout, il ne marcherait pas, parce qu'une économie collective ne peut pas marcher. Et une économie qui ne marche pas finit toujours par devoir contraindre, surveiller, interdire. C'est-à-dire par devenir exactement ce qu'ils prétendent combattre. Les vrais héritiers de la logique totalitaire ne sont pas ceux qu'on désigne du doigt. Alors qui traite-t-on d'« extrême droite » en 2026 ? Des gens qui veulent des villes safe. Des gens qui veulent garder leur culture. Des gens qui veulent simplement vivre une vie paisible, élever leurs enfants et ne pas avoir à barricader leur commerce tous les week-ends. Des gens qui veulent que la loi s'applique à tous. Si ça, c'est l'extrême droite, alors le mot ne veut plus rien dire. Et c'était peut-être le but.
