Prisoners don’t have the right to refuse work, are excluded from workplace protections, and are paid pennies on the dollar if they’re paid anything at all. Forced prison labor is carceral slavery and a workers rights issue.

not only are these state protected but ha:sañ are sacred to o’odham, they allow us to pick it’s fruits to prepare for new years ceremonies and celebrations. When they die they provide ribs for tools, shaded ramadas and fences among so many other uses needed in the Sonoran desert.
