I discovered @gnu_texmacs almost 15 years ago and was mesmerised by its technical capabilities. People nowadays are quite excited with solutions (LyX, Typsts) which seems to me way far from what has been already achieved there, both in design and quality of user experience.

Good typography is not just nice, is good for your soul and ideas.
On the recent `typst` hype: there is a better LaTeX already called TeXmacs with sane syntax and proper document tree. TeXmacs file is not code and is not Turing complete. Extendable with Scheme and runs on Apple M1. It's instant 10x productivity gain over LaTeX. Yet not popular.
@ShriramKMurthi @typstapp We need more research on programming languages for documents. @gnu_texmacs has also his own take on the matter (document structure comes from pure macros whose arguments are visually editable). Long ago J. Kingston (of Lout fame) was designing a new doc language: "nonpareil."
