Dawn and I were proud to light the People’s House yellow tonight to honor those lost, those still carrying the pain of October 7th, and the enduring strength of the Jewish community.
It was my honor to stand with the community at Temple Beth Shalom in this hour of memory, grief, and reflection.
Disgusting antisemitism from the GOP gubernatorial candidate’s family member & former campaign staff.
This is what happens when election deniers, extremists & conspiracy theorists lead a political party.
We condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

Tonight marks the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.
To all in our Jewish community observing this day, our family wishes you a safe and meaningful fast. Please know that our administration will always stand with you and cherish your presence, contributions, and love for our state, country, and society.
G’mar Chatima Tovah.
As Jewish families here in Maryland and around the world welcome Rosh Hashanah, First Lady @DawnFlytheMoore and I wish you a sweet, healthy, and peaceful new year. 🍎🍯
Thank you all so much. I'm proud to continue to stand with our state's Jewish community — including fighting against antisemitism and protecting Marylanders against the reckless actions coming from the federal administration.
I unequivocally condemn the antisemitic graffiti at Greenwood Elementary School in Olney; such hate has no place in our schools or our state, especially as we begin Jewish American Heritage Month. Ensuring my people feel safe where they live, work, worship, and learn remains my greatest priority. Our administration is working closely with local authorities to combat this hate and stomp out antisemitism in all its forms.
Jewish Americans have helped shape this country and this state for the better in ways we see every day — in our communities, our culture, and our history.
I'm proud to celebrate that contribution and stand steadfast in love and support for our Jewish community.
The First Lady and I wish a Chag Pesach Sameach to the Jewish community here in Maryland.
The history of Passover – rooted in values of faith, freedom, and resilience – reminds us to continue our fight in overcoming darkness. May this season bring you strength, reflection, and a renewed sense of purpose.
I am devastated to learn of yet another attack on a synagogue. At a time when Jewish communities across our country are faced with rising antisemitism, an attack on a house of worship is an attack on the very heart of our nation.
My prayers are with the congregants of Temple Israel and with the entire Michigan Jewish community. Maryland stands in solidarity with you, as we reaffirm that hate has no place in our communities, and we must and we will always speak out against antisemitism wherever it appears.
Wishing the Jewish community in Maryland a Chag Purim Sameach!
May this celebration remind us that faith and courage can turn any darkness into light, and may you always remember the power and strength in community.
I thank God that today we are able to see a day that so many of us hoped for, a return of the 20 living hostages to their families and a long needed peace deal to end the suffering of the people of Gaza.
I’m thankful to everybody who worked so hard to make the joy of today happen and pray for their strength in the days ahead. I met with and prayed with the hostage families in my office, and I’m thankful for the peace that this hopefully can bring. The pain they have endured is unfair and unimaginable. And I continue to pray for the families of the remaining deceased hostages who have yet to come home.
I also met with and prayed with Palestinian students and Marylanders who expressed their heartbreak over the loss they have experienced in Gaza, both in the past 2 years, but before then as well.
There is a long road ahead to rebuild Gaza, and as a first step we must provide swift humanitarian aid to end the suffering. I pray that all parties are committed to using this momentum to not just celebrate the progress that today represents, but also the continued commitment to preserving a future in the region, where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace, safety, security, and prosperity.
Two years ago, the world witnessed horrific terrorist attacks on October 7th. Today, the First Lady and I light Government House yellow to remember all the innocent lives lost, to stand with the families still grieving, and to honor the strength of those who continue to carry unimaginable pain. Maryland stands with the families of the hostages and the Israeli people.
To Maryland’s Jewish community: I stand with you in this hour of grief, as we work together to heal, and my heart breaks with you as we’re reminded that antisemitism and hate in all its forms are unacceptable, and we will continue to call it out wherever it rears its ugly head.
As we mark this solemn anniversary, let us hold space for the humanitarian suffering in the region and recommit ourselves to building a world rooted in peace for all people. May Israelis and Palestinians alike find a future where they can live side by side in safety and in dignity.
I’ve spoken with Gov. Polis and appreciate his steady leadership.
Maryland stands with Colorado and we stand united with the Jewish community and all communities targeted by hate. We must meet this moment with unity and a refusal to be intimidated by those who seek to divide us.
Yesterday, we witnessed yet another horrific act of antisemitic violence. This was an attack not just on individuals, but on the very principles we stand for as a nation.
Dawn and I are praying for a swift recovery for those injured.
We stand firmly with our Jewish neighbors, and my administration remains committed to ensuring their safety.
We will continue to work diligently to combat antisemitism and protect all Marylanders from acts of hate.
This heinous act of violence and antisemitism is a stark reminder of the persistent threats faced by Jewish communities.
As Governor, I want to make it unequivocally clear: hate has no home in Maryland.
I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., where a young Jewish couple, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, lost their lives.
I am grateful for the swift action of law enforcement to bring a suspect in custody.
