Jennings: This salute trutherism is outrageous. Rampell: Do it right now on TV! If you think it’s a normal way to greet people, do it right now on TV. Why won’t you?!

SPACE ODDITY 45 RELEASED 55 YEARS AGO TODAY “And the stars look very different today...” To mark the 55th anniversary of the release of the Space Oddity single, we thought that this post would bear repeating. Five years ago, In celebration of both Space Oddity’s 50th anniversary and the release of the @Tonuspomus 2019 Mix of both the Space Oddity album and single, @NachosVideos gave us another exclusive. Nacho synced the new full-length mix to the original Hits A GoGo broadcast live from Zurich on 3rd November, 1969. The show had a haunted house theme for the recent Halloween celebrations, which explains the moody lighting and dry ice. Watch the complete video, here: youtu.be/PbNsWll5ufw?si… #SpaceOddity55 #SpaceOddity2019TVmix #NachoBowie

Radiohead’s cover of Joy Division’s ‘Ceremony’ in 2007 is timeless! Back in 2007, following the release of their critically acclaimed album In Rainbows, Thom Yorke and the rest of Radiohead didn’t go out on tour immediately. No, instead, the band opted for something, which at the time, may have felt a little strange; they decided to broadcast a series of in-studio webcast performances through a stream. During the livestream, they delivered perhaps the best Joy Division and New Order’s cover of all time with their rendition of ‘Ceremony’. It’s one moment which not only shows off the influence Ian Curtis and the rest of the band had on Radiohead and British culture as a whole, but also the sincere and vast talent at Radiohead’s disposal. . #radiohead #thomyorke #okcomputer #jonnygreenwood #alternativerock #joydivision #postpunk #iancurtis #thecure #neworder #thesmiths #newwave #goth #unknownpleasures #peterhook #depechemode #punk #gothic #robertsmith #rock #manchester #alternative #bernardsumner #lovewilltearusapart #factoryrecords #darkwave #indie #stephenmorris #bauhaus #ceremony

“Coding” was never the source of value, and people shouldn’t get overly attached to it. Problem solving is the core skill. The discipline and precision demanded by traditional programming will remain valuable transferable attributes, but they won’t be a barrier to entry. Many times over the years I have thought about a great programmer I knew that loved assembly language to the point of not wanting to move to C. I have to fight some similar feelings of my own around using existing massive codebases and inefficient languages, but I push through. I had somewhat resigned myself to the fact that I might be missing out on the “final abstraction”, where you realize that managing people is more powerful than any personal tool. I just don’t like it, and I can live with the limitations that puts on me. I suspect that I will enjoy managing AIs more, even if they wind up being better programmers than I am.
