Well then. Let’s take a look at some of the people representing that army today. Russian Major General Roman Demurchiev. Here is what the journalists uncovered: — The general sent his wife photographs of severed human ears and joked about making a garland out of them. — He discussed handing Ukrainian prisoners of war over to a military counterintelligence officer for torture. — He spoke about the killings of Ukrainian prisoners. — He discussed the execution of three Ukrainian soldiers who, according to the investigation, were beaten to death with entrenching shovels after being captured. — According to the published correspondence, his superior officer, General Oleg Mityayev, suggested rewarding those involved in the killings. These are not random rumors circulating on the internet. This is a journalistic investigation in which the authenticity of the correspondence was examined and the messages were cross-checked against other evidence. And these are the people wearing generals’ stars on their shoulders. Representing the army of a supposedly great nation. Receiving promotions, ranks, and medals. So tell me, what military glory are you talking about? You can scream endlessly about Russia’s greatness, glorify victories of the past, and curse the rest of the world.
