@IrisVanRooij The difficulty for us, non-native speakers, extends beyond the “mechanics” of how to write. Variations in language carry out variations in expressive power, reasoning modes and mental models not easy to replicate or convey outside their original cultural frame of reference.

My therapist gave me a great tool for dealing with anxiety that I'm sharing in case it helps someone else: Anxiety tends to get amplified with unknowns. If you're feeling off, check your facts. Try to fill in what you don't know, or acknowledge what you don't have an answer to.

@sehurlburt It's like suddenly, after 20+ years of being a professional, nothing matters except your performance in that technical interview. It's completely pervasive now. I have excellent people considering leaving the field it's so bad.

I'm going to spoil it for you because it's so damn important. Microsoft did a scientific study - based on MS Vista code and found that the best predictor of bugs was: ORGANIZATIONAL COMPLEXITY More people = worse code More departments = worse code Higher turnover = worse code
