Signal has gone from merely annoying me to create a PIN, to outright refusing to let me use the app if I don’t create one. 😠
I really liked Signal. And it bums me out that I’m going to have to stop using it. @moxie, this was the wrong decision. x.com/matthew_d_gree…

Look, I’m totally ok with the idea of setting a password or a PIN if it’s only going to be used to authenticate myself to the service. But Signal has made it clear that they intend to use this for data backup, using Intel SGX. And I don’t want that at all.
@matthew_d_green Wait, I'm not a Signal user, they're really using SGX for that? That seems bananas.
@0xcharlie @matthew_d_green Why I don't use Signal? I care more about attack surface reduction, and Moxie disagrees with me on this. I don't see the point of world class crypto if you have enough attack surface to just pop a shell and grab the keys 🤷♂️I'd rather have minimal attack surface and RC4 😂
