@chrismillergov Who is "they"? What we got for the gas and oil is a few rich guys. Are they "they"? Aren't they business people - running their businesses like businesses?

@chrismillergov "Run like a business" is such a meaningless phrase. Like what kind of business? Enron? Lots of businesses fail even when they are run "like a business." What, exactly, does it mean to in this case?

“But there is a problem with these massive investments: Most STEM graduates don’t work in STEM occupations. The Census Bureau reported in 2021 that a paltry 28% of STEM grads are working in these supposedly in-demand, highly paid and important STEM jobs.” latimes.com/opinion/story/…

@TheHerdAD Laudable, yes. But I wish all students had the support system and resources that student athletes have. MU's retention would go up, graduation rate would soar, students would flock here.

@FarrellPatrickJ @heralddispatch I like the paper too, but we routinely get it in the mail 2 to 3 days late, so the weekend edition arrives, for example, on Tuesday. I wonder how the advertisers feel about that?

@FarrellPatrickJ The next sentences: "The state added about 4,700 residents in the year that ended July 1, 2023. But that was offset by the number of people who died in those 12 months. More than 8,600 more people died than were born, leaving the state with a net loss of almost 4,000."

@melnickjeffrey1 If conspiracism is popular culture, then Michael Barkun's Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America is great.
