I think ambitious people should treat life in “seasons” rather than trying to balance everything every day. A few years massively overallocated to work. A period getting seriously fit. A year or two nomading. Then family takes priority for a while. Then maybe at 35 you go completely insane again and spend four years building a new company, and so on. The mistake is thinking every metric needs to stay green all the time. Most great outcomes (building a company, writing sth serious, training for an event) need uninterrupted runs, not daily moderation. Sometimes work should suffer cause you’re travelling, sometimes your social life should suffer cause you’re building, sometimes career progression should slow cause family matters more. That’s fine. And tbh it probably makes life more fun too. You get actual chapters and completely different versions of yourself instead of spending 40 years maintaining the same perfectly optimised routine. A few intense years in one city, a weird nomad phase, an obsession that takes over your life, then something completely different. Probably much more memorable than one very long well-optimised Tuesday. It's why I encourage everyone to think of balance in years, not days. A good life can look horribly unbalanced on some random Tuesday and still be very balanced over 10 years.

We should all stop with this modern obsession of having a perfectly balanced, optimised life (8 hours sleep, daily cardio + gym, eat well, deep work, etc.) Most exceptional lives are heavily overallocated somewhere and any pursuit of greatness (in business, art, sport, research)

I had a friend who used to call me at 4am crying about her boyfriend. I’d wake up, listen, let her vent, and then go back to sleep, more than once. One night I couldn’t sleep, so I thought I’d return the favor and called her at 4am. She answered and told me she was sleeping, & I should call back tomorrow. Moral of the story: always remember that energy you give isn’t always going to be reciprocated—set your boundaries, even with “friends.”

i have no desire to be rich so i can buy a rolex or a lamborghini. i want to be rich so i can control my time and go to the gym at 3pm on a monday. sit at a cafe and relax for an hour on a rainy afternoon. so i can cook meals at home with fresh ingredients. spend on my family and friends without worrying about a budget. that's my idea of a rich life, not the fake consumerist idea shoved down my throat.

If we ever decide to stop communicating, I think it’s best that we both respect that boundary , even on special occasions like birthdays, New Year’s Day, my dad’s remembrance, or my graduation. If you hear anything about my life that might make you want to reach out, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t, and I promise to offer you the same respect. Man, I don't have much to say lately. It's a chaotic world. The poor marry, so do the rich. Some die, some are born. I ate meat, I ate veggies. I lost my job, but I got another. And I love it in nature, man. The ocean, the trees: they do something to me, man. And when I am running, the wind feels like therapy in my face. I also concluded that I have no type, no mechanical standards with people: everybody is an experience. A book I unravel. There are times I wished the novel would go on forever, but I guess I am no life's author: I am only a reader. I can only exist in the moment. Not focus too much on the ending. There are women I thought I would marry, man. And I loved holding their hands, kissing their foreheads. But I guess it was never meant to be. And it is sad, but it's life, man. That's the joy of it. To feel with abandon. Then heal just as resolutely. I used to believe I was entirely good. But I got blocked for the first time this year, so I guess I can't be all that. When I tell my stories, I am an angel and rainbow, but I must have hurt people in my past, and I guess I am a little heartbroken by it. I wanted to be perfect. And I always meant well but intentions never count when we hurt people, do they? And I want to live with the rules, man. But they are so exhausting. Do this, and do that and they still don't guarantee shit. Because after all of it, I am still going to die. You could do everything right, and still lose. And that's just how it is. That's just how it is. So I guess my only rule is living for now. I will be more pessimistic when I give up. But I have hope still. I see myself with a nice house somewhere with a lot of trees, man. Someone I will wake up to and call "baby". I mean it's stupid when you think it up, but what's the alternative, man? Wake up to a fucking cactus in a pot in my 40s?! Call a cat "honey"? And my friends look at me and say,"you are too white, brother". Too romantic for life. But I am not the one chasing emptiness with gin. Night after night with nothing to show for it, except bland tales about the pretty girl at the bar, and the big boys that spend cash like it's water. Knowing everything about everyone except ourselves. Chasing everything but us, man. Living vicariously through others, delegating our existence to another. Like a man who has love at home, but won't stop lamenting doomed love. Parroting hell for relevance until he becomes the statistic he spoke into life. And why must it always be investment. Can't even spend my money in peace. Everybody is preaching and the gospel is all stacking it up. But I saw a local dude in some torn shorts, with his wife and kids in Lamu, laughing to their last teeth by the beach. I mean it's not much, and it could be better. But it's not nothing. Right? We are not going to be dollar millionaires, and I guess that's fine, man. We don't have to be to live life. Most of us won't. But we can still be loved. We can still eat and drink. And that's what they call living, man. So I don't want to talk about the latest cars and flashiest watches. I will settle for the occasional laughter God sends my way. Until I have lost the light in me, then I will join you. But for now, I want to live. I want to wake up with some excitement. I want to exercise, man. I want to dream. I can't be mechanical about it. I am not a car. Just another dude, who a million years from now won't mean shit. But I've got to live. I've got to live.

Uganda Airlines, if you don't pull up your socks and stop operating an airline line like a taxi, then people will opt for other airlines plying the same routes and forfeit their patriotism. Last week's Wednesday flight to Zanzibar was cancelled and pushed to Thursday. Yesterday's (Wednesday) flight from Zanzibar to Entebbe was delayed until midnight, only for passengers to reach the airport and again told the same flight was pushed to today, Thursday. Imagine someone travelling on a budget and having to foot extra bills because of these bogus delays? @UG_Airlines

Although I'm ok with being single, I can't wait to actually meet someone who's actually interested in me. The constant crave of wanting to talk, asking about my day, my feelings, sharing laughter & being heard is so rare nowadays. Nobody communicates anymore. Real is Rare.
