I honestly think the theological debates ignited by Mr. Dinesh these past few days have been more of a blessing than the disaster some are making them out to be. Whatever you think of his approach, these conversations have forced many Christians back to the most important question: What does Scripture actually say? And perhaps all of us need that reminder. Because no denomination, theological framework, confession, church father, scholar, pastor, or favorite teacher is the arbiter of truth. Only the written, inspired Word of God occupies that place. Sometimes we become so settled within our theological camps that we begin acting like the elect of biblical interpretation: our people have already settled this; our scholars have already explained it; disagree with our interpretation and something must be wrong with you. Church history should have taught us to fear that spirit. There was a time when Christians did far worse than insult and cancel those they considered heretics. We may no longer have the power to imprison or execute theological opponents, but the temptation to brand, ridicule, ostracize and silence rather than patiently open the Scriptures has not disappeared. That is why Paul's warning should sober every one of us: “Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” (Gal. 1:8) Paul's immediate battle was against a different gospel being imposed upon the Galatians. But the principle should humble us: not even impressive authority gets to rewrite what God has revealed. So read Calvin. Read Arminius. Read Augustine. Read the Puritans. Read modern scholarship. I certainly believe good teachers are gifts to the Church. But then open the Bible and test them all. Because when we allow Scripture itself to tell the story of redemption, what emerges is not a God whose love must be protected by restricting His saving provision. We encounter something far greater. Before there was a theological system, there was Eden. God created humanity in His image and called His creation “very good” (Gen. 1:27, 31). Then Adam rebelled. Through one man's sin, death entered the world and “spread to all men” (Rom. 5:12). Yet almost immediately after humanity's fall, God announced humanity's hope: the Seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head (Gen. 3:15). And from Genesis onward, Scripture unfolds that promise until the Seed has a name: Jesus Christ. The catastrophe was humanity-wide. And God's answer in Christ is breathtaking in its reach: “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the WORLD.” (John 1:29) “God so loved the WORLD...” (John 3:16) Christ “gave himself as a ransom for ALL.” (1 Tim. 2:6) He tasted death “for EVERYONE.” (Heb. 2:9) He is the propitiation “for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD.” (1 John 2:2) This is where we must resist the urge to rescue God from His own words. The Fall reached all. Christ's provision reaches all. The gospel goes to all. God commands all to repent. And whoever believes receives eternal life. That does not make salvation man's achievement. God conceived the rescue. God sent the Son. Christ shed the blood. Christ conquered death. The Spirit convicts. The gospel is God's power unto salvation. Faith contributes nothing to the accomplishment of redemption. It simply receives what God has provided. The Israelites did not manufacture the bronze serpent. They did not supply its healing power. God provided the remedy; they looked and lived. And Jesus deliberately chose that picture to explain Himself (John 3:14–16). Looking didn't make them their own healers. Believing doesn't make us our own saviors. Perhaps these debates are therefore doing the Church some good after all. They are forcing us to ask whether we are defending God's Word or our understanding of God's Word. There is a difference. And every Christian tradition, including the one I presently believe is correct, must remain humble enough to hear: “Search the scriptures.” Because God's redemption story is far too glorious to be reduced to protecting our theological camps. Humanity fell in Adam. God answered with Christ. The world was loved. The Son was given. And whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. That is a Savior worth proclaiming to every creature.

Yes or no? (Please don’t equivocate or provide bogus distinctions.) People can only believe in Christ if God has prior to the creation of the world picked them to be the “elect.” Others cannot believe because God never wanted them to be with Him in the first place.

.@JohnCornyn, your memo perfectly illustrates why the talking filibuster is necessary—not why we should avoid it like the plague or pretend it doesn’t exist. The procedural hurdles you list (including the two-speech rule, quorum, calendar drag, and opportunity costs) are real. But they’re also manageable—and in many instances can even be used to strengthen our negotiating position—if Republicans actually use the rules instead of surrendering to them. The alternative—walking away from the SAVE America Act—has far higher costs: another election without proof of citizenship, more erosion of public confidence, and Democrats continuing to weaponize the same procedures against us. We can hold quorum. We can manage the two-speech rule. We can prioritize. The Senate should turn immediately to the SAVE America Act, debate it, and pass it. Election integrity isn’t optional and it isn’t going away. Let’s do the work. Let’s save America. Let’s pass the SAVE America Act!

James Madison described the powers of the federal government as “few and defined” and those reserved to the states as “numerous and indefinite.” We’ve been dangerously drifting from that understanding since the 1930s. The drift has been most evident in areas now most fraught with waste, fraud, and abuse. If we honored the Constitution’s limits on federal power, there’d be very little waste, fraud, and abuse in our national government. Share if you’d like to see a “constitutional reset,” in which any government function that’s not obviously and necessarily federal under the Constitution would be returned “to the states respectively, or to the people,” as the Tenth Amendment specifies.

I’m tired of the Senate’s evergreen excuse for inaction: “We don’t have 60 votes.” There are ways around the 60-vote cloture standard. It’s time to start using them. And stop disingenuously characterizing any refusal to do so as virtuous or conservative. Share if you agree.

I contacted Senator Marsha Blackburn's office yesterday to ask her position on the taking filibuster, and she had not taken one which in effect means she does not support it. This is very disappointing considering the majority of her Tennessee constituents support it.

My sweet girl, 16 years old, asked me before our town's prayer vigil in Charlie's honor if she could say a few words on behalf of the high schoolers who would be in attendance. I was surprised (she's never shown any interest in public speaking before). But I was also touched. She loved Charlie's boldness and his sharp arguments. She, like so many young people, has been deeply effected by his death. And as I watched her, I was thankful again for the impact his ministry (yes ministry) has had on the next generation. Thank you Charlie for all you did to model the life choices and values my husband and I have worked so hard to impart to our children. They are indeed your legacy.

Something I’ll never understand is half-hearted devotion to Jesus Christ. If Easter is true—if Jesus really did rise bodily from the grave and conquer death—then everything changes. We cannot respond to such a cosmic victory with mild interest or occasional church attendance. If Christ is alive, then He is not just a religious figure to admire but a King to obey. And if He defeated death, then His claims about Himself—His authority, His divinity, His right to rule—must all be true. That kind of power demands total allegiance, not partial compliance. Some embrace Christianity as a matter of heritage or culture, and I won’t mock that. Cultural Christianity often keeps people tethered to truth in ways they don’t fully grasp yet. But the resurrection calls us beyond the familiar comfort of tradition into the radical obedience of faith. The fact that Jesus walked out of the tomb with nail-scarred hands is not just inspirational—it is an ultimatum. You either live in submission to the Risen Lord or you live in rebellion against Him. There is no neutral ground. Easter is not a seasonal encouragement; it is a call to total surrender. The early church understood this. They didn’t celebrate Easter with brunch and flowers—they lived resurrection lives that “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). They understood that if Christ is risen, then nothing can remain the same—not our morals, not our ambitions, not even our very lives. So when we say “He is risen,” we must ask: Have we risen with Him? Are our lives marked by wholehearted obedience, or by the half-measures of convenience and comfort? The resurrection demands our everything. Anything less is not just inadequate—it’s incoherent.
