On p.191 of the Alcoholics Anonymous text book: Bill W. said, "...THE LORD has been so wonderful to me, CURING me of this terrible disease ..."' If insurance paid for "spirituality education", how different would "substance abuse treatment" be, & how better would results be?
A large reason for relapse in chemical addiction, after having been sober for a while, is something called "Euphoric Recall". This is phenomena in which one remembers the "high of using" but NOT the negative consequences of using. See more at 3rdstepcounseling.com/thoughts-from-… ... !

Typical mindset of an addict/alcoholic: "seek pleasure and/or avoidance of pain" . . . Typical mindset of a non-addict: "seek satisfaction" . . . Neither of these mindsets are "good" or "bad", they are just different! This is "part" of what is going on in chemical addiction!
