@DonaldJTrumpJr Remind me: are you the greasy one or the stupid one? Your scumbag dad had four years to do something.

I had SO much fun nerding out with Brett and Gregg as we each ran down our five favorite songs from the 415 Records catalog. If you want a sense of what the label was about, this podcast -- including music clips -- is a fine place to start. podbean.com/eau/pb-m2ca7-1…

When I encounter someone using the word "reveal" as a noun, it makes me grind the enamel off my teeth. So instead I'll call this the "unveiling" of the upcoming book's back cover, with nice words from fellow writers I admire. 415book.com

@denofcinema5 @downwithtyranny Hi Dennis - a new compilation CD from @LiberationHall isn't quite a straight reissue of that classic 415 Music LP, but it's close, and worth picking up.

Pearl Harbor and the Explosions helped establish and define the character of 415 Records. Vocalist Pearl E. Gates struck a winning balance, with an image halfway between undeniably sexy and bring-home-to-Mom adorable. 415book.com

SF-based The Contractions featured Debbie Hopkins on drums, guitarist Mary Kelley, and Kathy Peck on bass guitar. On being told she was a "pretty good drummer for a girl," Hopkins took no shit: "Someday," she'd sneer back, "maybe I'll be good for a man!" 415book.com

@JoeBanksWriter Indeed! And after Hawkwind (but just pre-Palmer) he played drums on Mick Farren's 1978 "Vampires Stole My Lunch Money" LP. Colorful career, colorful guy. Interviewed him for my book about 415 Records (out in December.

You would be hard pressed to find a more unlikely band than Jo Allen and the Shapes. The idea of a skinny-tie new wave band fronted by a non-singing drummer who had been in Chicken Shack and Hawkwind is ludicrous. But that's more or less what happened. 415book.com

Some 40 years on, someone with a passing familiarity with 415 Records might think of it as a new wave or even "college rock" record label. But 415's roots are firmly planted in punk. "The Nuns were the very first band we signed," says Howie Klein. 415book.com

A trio churning out dance singles aimed at least in part at the gay disco scene, Until December came on like Depeche Mode, armed with roaring electric guitars instead of synthesizers. They may have been too far ahead of their time. 415book.com

Exemplars of 415 Records' eclectic approach, The @Uptones were avatars of the Bay Area ska movement. They had the look, the sound and the professionalism needed for widespread success. And they were basically kids, not seasoned young adults. 415book.com
