@Cardiff_Central Bring on Saints 😳

If only we had as many articles citing British people fed up with billionaires as we do billionaires fed up with Britain.

Today we remember #OwainGlyndŵr, who fought for a Wales that could govern itself 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 More than 600 years later, that ambition lives on. Plaid Cymru will always stand up for #Wales to have the voice, powers and resources we need to shape our own future ✊

@DanWalesReform Three democratically-elected first ministers of devolved administrations within the same sovereign state meeting up? God forbid!

So.... £2,485 on glasses for a PM was "sleaze rotting our politics to the core" but £72,000,000 in a single day for Nigel Farage is celebrated as hitting "the jackpot" and a "war chest..." Whatever is happening here is happening in plain sight. You decide!

I'd love Gareth Davies to be back involved in Welsh rugby at a very senior administrative level We all would Problem is Last time he was, he was completely shafted by the amateur side of the game Who voted to NOT reform the game You all know who you are/ were

Nigel Farage has only attended around 30% of Parliamentary votes since becoming MP & hasn’t run a single surgery for his constituents in Clacton. For that he is paid £98,000 a year of taxpayers’ money, whilst making £millions on the side. The average PIP recipient gets £6000 a year. The first person who needs their taxpayer funded benefits taken away is Nigel Farage.

People on Facebook will get mad about anything. Now Reform and the Tories are targeting the Welsh language, sending the ill-informed off on a crusade to protect English (spoken by 1.5 billion people) from Cymraeg.

Come on @SKinnock. There was an entire Commission about all this. Now you look like you either didn't know about it, didn't read it, or like you're dragging your feet. Support the devolution of Crown Estates. Lets not choose that path where everyone end up being miserable.

New Welsh secretary Stephen Kinnock 'not entirely convinced' on more powers for Wales bbc.in/4fr5K1t

More powers for Wales "not credible" @KemiBadenoch, needs evidence to show benefits @SKinnock. Luckily, here's something we prepared earlier, rammed full of specialist evidence, pretty credible I'd say & supported by @LaurenMaeve @shavtaj @AlbertOwen2020: gov.wales/sites/default/…

One of the reasons why Plaid won the election is because they backed Wales when Labour and Tory didn’t. Lessons to be learnt… bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Tories & Labour claim the case for more powers for Cymru has not been made & so they are not convinced. Not true. The case has been made unanimously, cross-party, publicly, with the input of experts, & backed by two years of evidence substack.com/@leannecymru/n…

The Welsh Government is elected by the people of Wales to make decisions that impact lives in our communities. It’s up to the Senedd to work with Wales’ communities to make those decisions - not Westminster. The UK Government must devolve the powers we need to Wales.

I suspect this doesn't include Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland though and Britain means England in this regard.

Britain doesn't need more decisions made in Whitehall. It needs more power in the hands of people and places that know their communities best. That's exactly what No 10 North will deliver. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

All 22 Welsh councils have voted to devolve the Crown Estate. Welsh Labour Conference voted for it too. Does @SKinnock really believe he knows better than every council in Wales, his own party in Wales and the clear democratic consensus across the country?

The new Secretary of State for Wales has hinted to LBC News devolving some key powers may not be on the cards. Stephen Kinnock has suggested there'll be a better relationship between Wales and Westminster, though.

STEPHEN KINNOCK WANTS EVIDENCE. HERE IT IS. Commenting today on calls for further devolution, the new Secretary of State for Wales, Stephen Kinnock, said: “I think we have to be evidence-based and it’s really important to look at what are the costs and benefits of making change.” Fair enough. Here’s the evidence. Over the past 15 years, independent commissions and constitutional reviews have repeatedly examined Welsh devolution. Their conclusion has been consistent: the settlement is incomplete and Wales should have further powers. 2012–14 – Silk Commission Set up by David Cameron’s Conservative-led UK Government, it recommended tax and borrowing powers, a reserved-powers model, and the further devolution of policing, youth justice, energy and transport. The Wales Acts of 2014 and 2017 implemented some of this, including tax and borrowing powers and the reserved-powers model. But major recommendations, including policing and youth justice, were left untouched. 2019 – Commission on Justice in Wales Chaired by former Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, it concluded that separating devolved Welsh services from a non-devolved justice system was inefficient and unsustainable. It recommended devolving justice and policing. 2022 – Gordon Brown’s Commission on the UK’s Future Commissioned by Labour, it recommended further powers for Wales, including youth justice and probation. 2024 – Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales After more than two years of work, including extensive evidence gathering and public consultation, the cross-party commission unanimously concluded that the status quo was not sustainable. It recommended devolving justice and policing, rail services and infrastructure, and the Crown Estate, reforming the energy devolution settlement, strengthening the Sewel Convention, and reforming relations between the Welsh and UK governments. These are only four examples. Senedd committees and expert reports have also called for further devolution in areas including rail, broadcasting, justice, energy and the Crown Estate. So yes, let’s be evidence-based. The evidence has been gathered repeatedly, and it is overwhelming. Successive UK governments have repeatedly stopped short of implementing the most significant recommendations, and the new Welsh Secretary seems unaware of the weight of evidence supporting further devolution. Further powers would be welcome and important, but devolution will always leave Wales dependent on powers granted or withheld by Westminster. Only independence would put the full range of powers and economic levers in Wales’s own hands, giving us the freedom to shape our own future.

Wales has given a clear mandate for powers over justice, the Crown Estate and rail. The new Secretary of State says no. It seems the commitment to ‘empower communities through devolution’ stops at the Welsh border.

To England fans who constantly state “but the Falklands!” Every time we post support for Argentina: This is a very important story to us. In 1865, our people fled English oppression to preserve their language, religion and culture. In Chubut they created a new home, and that connection remains strong today in the language, place names, and traditions that are honoured in the Wladfa. You can still find authentic Welsh foods and desserts, Eisteddfodau, and overall a great group of people who are both proud of their heritage and proud Argentinians. This connection isn’t new. It deepened after the Falklands War after we discovered Welsh-speaking Argentine POW’s. But the decades since, our football clubs like Wrexham AFC have hosted special nights for Argentina because of that bond. We aren’t cheering for them because we’re jumping on an anti-England bandwagon. Here are two of the flags representing Y Wladfa, reminiscent of the land they still loved and called home.

This is the most Nigel Farage thing Nigel Farage has ever done. Stand down in the safest seat Reform holds, then stand again so he can win it back and say: “See? 20,000 people voted for me, so we can all forget about my dodgy billionaire mate.” He is such a fucking drama queen.

Wales’ Crown Estate profits are up 2300% from 2021 – now standing at £210 million. But our communities see no benefit as it’s sent straight to London. Wales needs control over our natural resources now and Plaid Cymru has the mandate to fight for it. tinyurl.com/yfe6xn3e
