Elon Musk explains why you should never charge an electric car to 100% The last 20% is not a small ask. Elon: "getting from 80 to 100, it takes about as much time as getting from 0 to 80" It runs backwards from how people fuel a car. Elon: "it's a little counterintuitive, because for a gasoline car you would fill it up" Inside the battery, ions are looking for somewhere to go. Elon: "the lithium ions are trying to find a parking space" Elon: "when the parking lot's empty, they can zip right in there and find a spot, it's easy" Elon: "as the parking lot gets full, just like trying to find a parking space at a mall, you have to hunt around for a spot" So on a road trip the rule flips. Elon: "you actually want to charge to about 80%, and then run it down all the way to 10%, or less"

My cousin bought a $320,000 house in 2019. Mortgage was $1,400 a month. Life was simple. Fast forward to this week. He hasn't missed a single payment, hasn't refinanced, and hasn't added a single square foot to the property. His monthly payment just jumped to $2,100. Why? Because local property tax assessments skyrocketed 40%, and his homeowner's insurance premium doubled after two regional storms hit the state….even though his own house suffered zero damage. The bank sent a letter saying his escrow account had a $4,800 shortage, and they increased his monthly bill by $700 overnight to cover it. They tell you a fixed-rate mortgage locks in your housing costs for 30 years. What they don't tell you: The principal and interest are fixed, but the property taxes and insurance aren't. You never truly own your home…..you're just renting it from the city and insurance companies at a rate they can hike whenever they want.

Jason Weaver says Disney originally offered him a $2 million upfront paycheck for singing young Simba’s parts in The Lion King, but his mom turned it down because the deal didn’t include royalties. “Disney offered me $2 million upfront with no royalties just to do the singing parts. To an average middle-class family from Chicago in the early '90s, that kind of money was insane.” “But after the initial excitement wore off, my mom asked, ‘Is that all he ever gets for the rest of his life?’ When they said yes, she turned it down and insisted on negotiating for royalties instead.” “At the time, Disney didn't give royalty deals to relatively unknown kids, but my mom saw the bigger picture. She knew the franchise was going to make billions from theme parks, games, and merchandise.” “So I took a much lower check around $100,000 just to secure those royalties. Giving up nearly $1.9 million upfront was a massive gamble, especially since my biggest paycheck before that was $80,000 playing Michael Jackson.”

LeBron is SUCH a ring chaser. Dude wouldn't take a significant paycut for a Lakers team that did basically whatever he wanted, but he's ending his career playing for pennies for Philly. Thankful for the bare minimum one ring, but the LeBron Lakers era was mostly a disappointment.
