Remember: the former president said he would sign a national abortion ban.
If extremist so-called leaders have their way, no woman will be safe from the government telling her what to do with her own body.
.@gtconway3d: There are a number of Republicans who are uncomfortable with Trump. The Republican Party is now devoted to lying for a criminal. Trump is a convicted criminal who tried to overthrow the Constitution of the United States. He is a narcissistic sociopath. He's crazy
During a Fox News interview over the weekend, Donald Trump denied ever saying "lock her up" in reference to Hillary Clinton. But we have the receipts.
This interview comes just days after Trump was found guilty of all 34 counts in his criminal trial.
@ZaleskiLuke@RonFilipkowski Trump 2016: “She shouldn’t be allowed to run...If she wins, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis... we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and a criminal trial. It would grind government to a halt.” " / X" / X
Starting Topics:
1. Trump is the Republican nominee and he’s weakening. Last night's primary showed real trouble ahead for Trump in November since a significant percentage of Republicans in key swing states refuse to vote for him. In Ohio, Haley dropped out of the race weeks ago and received 14.4% of the vote. DeSantis got 3.4%. Haley voters are not coming home.
2. Thirty Insurance companies refused to put up $464 million dollar bond for Donald Trump. His failure to make bond and his mounting legal and financial troubles make him a massive national security risk. Would you entrust the presidency to a desperate man with a $464 million dollar fraud judgment against him?
3. Donald Trump is positioning the violent January 6 Capitol attack as a cornerstone of his bid to return to the White House. He's pledging to forgive violent J6 insurrectionists and let them out of prison early. He's signaling to his violent and conspiratorial supporters that he doesn't care about democracy or the rule of law - just as long as he wins the White House. If Trump is elected, expect more of the political violence and chaos.
A British writer penned the best description of Donald Trump I’ve ever read:
“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?”
A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.”

1. The Georgia Republican primary results are in. Donald Trump lost Georgia by fewer than 12,000 votes in 2020. Last night, Nikki Haley collected more than 64,000 votes, even though she dropped out of the race last week. That’s a significant number that voted in protest of Trump. He’s weaker than you think.
2. After Tuesday’s Hur hearing, the Biden impeachment farce has been exposed for what it is - a blatant attempt to smear the President with unfounded accusations to hurt his reelection chances.
3. In every year of the Biden administration, violent crime has dropped. According to the latest estimates, 2023 is on track to have one of the lowest violent crime rates in half a century. America is safer today than when Biden took office.
🚨TRUMP CALLS FOR MIDDLE-CLASS TAX INCREASE: Trump’s proposed 10% across-the-board tariff on all imported goods would result in a $300 BILLION TAX ON U.S. CONSUMERS, who will end up paying their costs. That’s per the nonpartisan Tax Foundation, a business-friendly DC think tank.
Trump honors Viktor Orban for being an autocrat: “There’s nobody that’s better, smarter or a better leader than Viktor Orban. He says, ‘This is the way it’s gonna be,’ and that’s the end of it. He’s the boss.”
Hey @EliseStefanik, this was YOU cowering in fear during the #Jan6thInsurrection. If Trump picks you as his running mate, I’m going to post this pic every day until Election Day.
Gov. @JBPritzker: President Biden has stood up for the middle class every single day of his presidency. Donald Trump gave huge tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans. President Biden stands up for a woman's right to choose versus Trump who overturned Roe
