Youth sports are not about obtaining a future scholarship. If you want a guaranteed scholarship, save all the money you will pay on travel ball and related expenses through the years. It will likely pay for 100% of college. The other best route is academics. Remember, most baseball scholarships are 25% - 30%. Thus, it is critical to keep perspective. Play for fun. Yes, do your best to be your best. But keep it fun. As a player grows and develops it will become evident in HS (at some point) if the next level might be a possibility. And even then, we must still keep it fun. If your sole motive is scholarship, you will likely lose out on so much of what the game has to offer. Just my take.

Our coaching staff saw close to 30 HS games this weekend. One thing we all agreed was missing: passion. Not fake, clout chasing, show up the opponent stuff. Genuine passion. Dudes that love to play the game and play it hard. Want to get on our radar? Show us you love the game.

The most detrimental player to any program is the...high school big leaguer. The HS big leaguer is clueless because of his: Culture, Entitlement, Immaturity, Softness and Self-Centered Priorities! 1-2-3 HS Big Leaguers on a team GUARANTEE an underachieving season.
