With MK326M AGCOM 2 support, Chigunyu Cooperative plans to establish a 400-hectare megafarm in Mzimba. Mk85 million first tranche funded warehouse construction and procurement of gnut shelling, grading and plucking machines that have motivated the need for increased production.

After receiving MK133 million matching grant from AGCOM, Mwachitsosa Cooperative constructed a modern bulking center, procured 31 dairy animals, conducted trainings on dairy production and cooperative management. This is an all-women group with 38 members based in Lilongwe.

TILAPI cooperative from Zomba received MK53 million which they have used to procure a feed processor, construct a 44-pigpens kraal, caretaker’s house, a feed processing room and held trainings on pig farming and cooperative management. The group also bought improved pig breeds.

MTIKAMA Cooperative from Mangochi got K170m from AGCOM 2 and procured a tractor, implements, a trailer and multi-seed planter and thresher. The equipment will help the cooperative to increase farming area from 50ha to 200ha and increase soybean harvest to over 300mt.

Springs of Hope Cooperative is an all-youth cooperative receiving a matching grant of MK173 million from AGCOM 2. The cooperative has constructed a warehouse worth MK45 million and plans to buy a tractor and its implements valued at MK78 million. #agcom2 #mfsrp

Rice farmers in Karonga and Nkhatabay are satisfied with newly rice varieties saying they are high yielding early maturing and disease resistant. AGCOM 2 supported research trials of the new varieties at Wovwe Hara, and Mkondezi irrigation schemes in Karonga and Nkhatabay.
