Here's a closeup of the bright prominence that many people reported seeing with their naked eye during the eclipse. This was captured using two telescopes- at 2000mm and at 3650mm. These prominences are part of the solar chromosphere, and normally require a specially modified telescope to view. Not during an eclipse!
This prominence was visible in the lower right side of the moon during the eclipse, as seen in my composite photo captured using 5 cameras here. See the full uncropped image or pick up a print of this here: cosmicbackground.io/pages/total-ec…
@AJamesMcCarthy So with welders glasses on. I would be able to see a prominence from earth on a normal day? I did not see any of that when I watched the transit of Venus through my low power telescope.
@AJamesMcCarthy @AsgardiaSpace The one that stood out here was on the bottom.
@AJamesMcCarthy My h-alpha doesn’t even look this good
@AJamesMcCarthy How lucky we are in having a natural satellite that has an angular diameter often matching that of our star. Quite convenient for astronomy.
