@Barchart Lynch says you must know what you own and why you own it; “this baby is a cinch to go up” is not a valid thesis.

@bespokeinvest Markets move in non‑linear cycles (booms and busts), not straight lines, so you must embrace volatility instead of pretending it doesn’t exist

“Behind every stock is a company. Find out what it’s doing.” Peter Lynch said. Simple example: A stock falls 30%. Many people ask: “Will the stock bounce?” Lynch would ask: “Are earnings still growing? Is the balance sheet safe? Is the business story still intact?” If the company is improving and the stock is cheaper, the fall may be an opportunity. If the business is deteriorating, the fall may be a warning.

Buffett's investing approach centers on understanding the business, staying within one’s competence, being patient, avoiding debt, and buying great businesses at prices below intrinsic value.

Stocks are not lottery tickets. Behind every stock is a real business, and your job is to understand that business better than the crowd. Lynch says individual investors can use their own experience, local knowledge, and straightforward research to find overlooked companies.

@wealthmoose When a country is flooded with debt, interest rates will eventually stay high, making it incredibly expensive for companies to borrow money to build factories or buy heavy machinery. You want to completely avoid capital-intensive businesses. Instead, go "asset-light."

While El Niño may temporarily affect agricultural output, attributing sustained food inflation to weather patterns ignores the fundamental truth that inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon. Market prices efficiently coordinate supply responses to such shocks without requiring alarmist predictions of permanently rising grocery bills.

On market-cap style: if AAII members are now favouring large-caps after a stretch of small-cap outperformance, it often means the easy money in that rotation has already been made. Stick with boring, well-understood companies you can explain with a crayon drawing, and don't chase whatever style is hot this week.

Lynch’s famous idea is not “buy whatever product you like.” It is: Start with companies or industries you understand, then do the homework. Simple example: You notice a local restaurant chain is always full, has long lines, and is opening new stores. That is a useful clue. But before buying the stock, you still check: Is revenue growing? Are profits growing? Is debt manageable? Are new stores profitable? Is the stock price reasonable?

@nationalpost @financialpost Friedman famously stated that inflation is solely caused by a rapid increase in the quantity of money relative to the economic output of goods and services, and it's not from the global imbalances.

@qcapital2020 Don't buy Just Because a stock is ' on sale, Peter Lynch said. A cheap stock isn't automatically a good buy. if a lower price reflected real problems. Lynch rejected it.

211餐盘。蛋白质和蔬菜种类开始多样化。杂粮饭由糙米、藜麦、和红扁豆组成, 加了少许糯米(希望不会对血糖有太多影响)。牛奶也换成了低糖高蛋白的品种。

Market downturns create bargains. Simple example: In 1991, when auto stocks were down 50% from highs and dealers were playing pinochle, Lynch bought GM. The fear was extreme, but the balance sheet was solid. He recognized that GM's non-auto businesses (financing, Hughes Aircraft, EDS) were profitable enough to justify the stock even if U.S. car sales broke even.
