What doesn’t get talked about enough is the emotional weathering that happens after these events for Black employees in predominantly White spaces. Half of coworkers won’t even know what happened. Privilege allows for that bc it doesn’t impact them. Other half won’t mention it.

Far too many allies aren't stepping up as mediators. When someone shares an experience of discrimination by a superior, often from a privileged background, don't offer only one recommendation: "you should talk to them about it." At least offer to intervene, with their permission.

I need so many people to understand this regarding Tyre Nichols. Several of the police officers who murdered Freddie Gray were Black. The entire system of policing is based on white supremacist violence. We see people under the boot of oppression carry its water all the time.

If a hospital administrator can receive six figure bonuses while patients sit in stool for hours on end because they refuse to pay to supplement staffing, the system is beyond repair. They know that unsafe staffing leads to poor outcomes, they just don't care.
