If you publish a strategy game, you should plan to make a 2nd edition. The feedback available is 1000X more and better after you publish a 1st edition than before. Feedback quality is a major limiter of design quality.

I've found this to be a surprisingly powerful game design tip: Hang a white board where you tend to design games. When stuck, switch to white board. Amazing what a good context switch can do to unstick the old noodle.
