@AceHighWifi Hahaha. US had passenger train network between all these cities and it still has the best freight network. Nothing about distances should stop passenger trains

@AceHighWifi "Four hours" by car. On an indirect path. Limited to a max speed of what, 70? 75? Four hours at 75mph is 300 miles. I don't know anyone that would drive that for a daily/weekly trip. Too long, too expensive. Put in high-speed trains that routinely run 150+ mph? 2 hour journey.
