When a major label signs an Artist, they are supposed to ride on the structure, wings & influence of the Label. But following adequate investment overtime, the Artist is expected to grow their own wings, build their own structure, influence, subdue & dominate to some degree.

Labels that have underperforming Artists are not happy about it. Labels don't invests on Artists and expect them to be mediocre. When labels don't push their Artists, everyone blames them. But when Artists underperform, people become emotional & give excuses for the Artists.

There are certain platforms you can't afford to be mediocre on when signed to them. You can't get the lifetime opportunity of being signed to a big label and then underperform. Some Artists lack vision & hunger to succeed; they shouldnt occupy the chance of those who do.

One big mistake a label will make is to sign an Artist who lacks authenticity. You don't sign an Artist because they've a good voice only. No matter how good they sound to you, if that Artist lacks a distinct sound and style that differentiates them, you will waste your money.
