Every organization has security policies. Very few have security habits. The policy says lock your screen. The habit is actually doing it when you walk away for coffee. The policy says report suspicious emails. The habit is pausing for three seconds before clicking any link. The policy says use strong passwords. The habit is using a password manager instead of writing them on a sticky note under the keyboard. Technology can only protect an organization so far. At some point, it comes down to what people do every day without thinking. So here is my question for IT and security professionals: if you could make every user in your organization adopt one security habit overnight, what would it be? I will start. Locking the screen, every time, without exception. #InfoSec #CyberSecurity #SecurityAwareness

Production is down. Users are calling. Leadership wants an update every ten minutes. And every eye in the room turns to you. This is the moment no certification exam prepares you for. Certifications matter. They prove you understand the concepts, and they open doors that would otherwise stay closed. But anyone can memorize the OSI model or subnetting tables. What separates good IT professionals from great ones is what happens under pressure: staying calm, isolating the problem logically, communicating clearly, and not guessing when the stakes are high. Those skills come from experience. From broken labs, failed changes, late-night outages, and learning from every mistake. Certifications get you in the room. Troubleshooting keeps you there. #ITCareers #CyberSecurity #Networking

Rasuwa's flood killed 165 people with almost no rain. Now Budhi Gandaki has flooded again. Stop blaming people for living near rivers. The villages didn't change. The rivers did. This is climate change. Rasuwa flooded because a glacier broke upstream. No house can cause that. Scientists say the Himalayas are getting hotter and glaciers are melting faster. That means more floods and landslides. ICIMOD's director said the 2024 floods were linked to climate change. Nepal adds very little to global warming but pays a big price. #Nepal #ClimateChange #NepalFloods #Himalayas

An alert fires at 2 AM. An AI tool scans thousands of log entries in seconds and produces a clean summary: suspicious login activity from an unusual location. Impressive. Fast. Helpful. But it cannot tell you that the "unusual location" is your CFO traveling for a conference. It does not know that the server throwing errors was scheduled for maintenance. It has no idea which vendor connection is normal and which one is a threat. That context lives in people. The engineers who know the network, the business, and the history behind every exception. AI is changing IT, and it should. It removes repetitive work and speeds up analysis. But the organizations getting real value from it are not replacing their people. They are pairing experienced professionals with tools that help them move faster. The question is not whether AI will take your job. It is whether you will learn to use it before someone else does. #AI #CyberSecurity #ITOps

A company spends six figures on firewalls, endpoint protection, and a security operations center. Then an employee who left eight months ago logs in with an account nobody disabled, and walks straight past all of it. This is how most breaches actually happen. Not through elite hackers or zero-day exploits, but through forgotten accounts, reused passwords, unpatched systems, and access nobody reviewed. The attacker does not need to break down the door when someone left it unlocked. The uncomfortable truth is that security is rarely about genius. It is about discipline. Offboarding checklists. Quarterly access reviews. Patching on schedule, not "next cycle." Multi-factor authentication everywhere, not just where it is convenient. None of this is exciting. None of it makes headlines. But the organizations that do the boring things consistently are the ones that stay out of the news. Security tools are important. Security habits are essential. #CyberSecurity #InfoSec #ITSecurity

On the morning of August 26, a massive piece of glacier broke off near Langtang Lirung and sent a wall of ice, rock, and water down the Trishuli River. Within minutes, a border crossing that carried nearly a third of Nepal-China trade was gone. Villages and hydropower plants downstream were next. A month later, more than 1,300 people are confirmed dead in Nepal and thousands are still missing. Families are holding funerals without bodies. Whole communities are starting over in temporary shelters. Scientists say climate change likely made a disaster like this more probable. Warming weakens the permafrost that has held Himalayan ice and rock together for thousands of years. Here is the part that deserves more attention: Nepal produces about 0.05% of the world's CO2 emissions today, and just 0.01% of all CO2 emissions since the Industrial Revolution. The country that did the least to cause the problem is paying one of the highest prices. The bill is enormous. Rebuilding is estimated at around $4.7 billion. The UN Loss and Damage Fund has provided $20 million. Nepal is now weighing loans, meaning a country that barely contributed to climate change may go into debt to recover from it. The headlines have moved on. The recovery has not. Climate justice is not charity. It is responsibility. @UNFCCC @UN #Nepal #ClimateChange #ClimateJustice

A young Nepali leader just stood before 193 nations and told the truth. At #UNGA81, PM Balen Shah spoke for the families still searching riverbanks after the Bhotekoshi Trishuli floods: 1,400+ dead, 6,000+ missing. His message: Nepal did not warm the planet, yet we pay the price. Debt should not be the answer to a crisis we did not cause. He proposed a Himalayan Climate Resilience Mechanism with Nepal, India and China, and called out a world with flawless logistics for war and broken logistics for food. From King Mahendra to Balen Shah, Nepal’s voice at the UN still carries the Himalayas with pride. 🇳🇵 And he closed in Nepali: “May Pashupatinath bless everyone.” Proud to be Nepali. 🇳🇵🏔️ #Nepal #BalenShah #ClimateJustice

Cost will be the visible part: energy, freight, insurance, defense budgets. The bill lands on people who had no vote in any of it. The less visible part is the framing. Once something is filed under security, the threshold for justifying it drops and the accounting arrives years late, if at all. That is not a claim about anyone’s intent. It is how the category has always worked. Treat the first days of coverage with caution. Early reporting is the least reliable and the most confident. For the people who will absorb decisions made far above them: I am sorry.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

@MicrosoftHelps After the KB4568831 update The Device Manager update stopped working. Only a junk PC with Windows 10 will try and feel comfort doing it. Grow to earn value, some mistakes are small, very small to not let other notice.
