To get things right on routing and network side of things - sometimes a visit to lartc.org goes a long way
TCP packets should follow exactly same route to-and-fro to be able have right connection, and ICMP ping reply does not always guarantee that. Better, start tracing the IP address and make block diagrams.

@AjeyGore I would create authentication but not authorisation. Let everyone have same set of permissions.
@AjeyGore Auth first. Easier to include a middleware at the start of building a new feature, rather than building tons of features first and then adding auth. Also helps save time in writing test cases, if following TDD. Auth becomes part of the tests.
