A recharge well. Not all wells will yield water. We dig in hope but success and failure is a complex story. It depends on lithology, and aquifer conditions including state of exploitation. Yet dig we must , for the effort is in our hands, the rewards not , as the Gita says.

India is the largest user of groundwater in the world . We also have an ancient history of dug wells. The Kere-baavi or lake-well interphase has given water in summer and years of drought. Aquifers need to be nurtured with care. A well in Kolar district .

एक विकास है जिसका पेट कभी नहीं भरता है. अपनी भूख मिटाने के लिए वह हमेशा आदिवासी इलाकों की तरफ़ ही आता है. पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी लोगों ने जिस प्रकृति को संभाल कर रखा है, वहां ज़मीन, जंगल, पहाड़, नदी सबकुछ खा जाता है. विकास की ऐसी भूख के खिलाफ़ ही लद्दाख में लोग 20 दिनों से अनशन पर हैं.

Everyone needs to visit @zenrainman’s house in Bengaluru to get a live example of, and to understand, how by harvesting rainwater, an urban household can easily manage most of its annual water needs. He even grows paddy on his rooftop!! I visited his house and was so impressed!

जंगल में सेमल, पलाश, सरई सारे फूल अपने-अपने रंग लेकर खिले हुए हैं. कुछ आदिवासी समुदाय इन दिनों फूलों का पर्व बाहा पर्व, बा: पर्व मनाते हैं. इसके बाद लोग प्रकृति पर्व सरहुल, खद्दी पर्व मनायेंगे. प्रकृति के पास सारे जीवंत रंग हैं. उसके बचे रहने से ही हमारे जीवन में रंग बचे रहेंगे.

साधारण लोग समझते हैं कि अति शक्तिशाली नेता उन्हें भविष्य के संकटों से बचा सकता है. इसलिए वे अपना शासक चुन लेते हैं. पर शक्तिशाली नेता साधारण लोगों को विकास और शांति के नाम पर युद्ध में, दंगों में, हिंसा में झोंक देता है. और आमरण अनशन में बैठे लोगों को मरने के लिए छोड़ देता है.
