The thing that inspired this... I saw a tweet along the lines of... "It's just not realistic to live a healthy lifestyle while you're building a startup" I have a problem with a culture that puts off the present in the hope that "time will open up" in the future. Life happens now. And whatever you're doing to make a crust right now, make sure it's sustainable. Sustainable meaning you don't 'go into debt' on your health and fitness to do it.

@Alan_Couzens I understand @samiinkinen founded @virtahealth while competing and winning IM in his Age Group. I’m reminded of a residency colleague who went to Kona while the rest of us were treating our self pity with sloth, biscuits, & gravy. Took me too long to change my approach
@Alan_Couzens "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" - John Lennon
@Alan_Couzens Life happens now. So true. I remember being told that there was never a good time to have a child and that if I waited for that time it would be too late for us. It was good advice. We had our daughter and survived financially. Who knew? 😝 As you say, life happens now.
@Alan_Couzens Unfortunately, sometimes, we don't have a choice with work-life balance. We either work or get sacked.
@Alan_Couzens If it's truly important to you, you prioritize it. If I hadn't prioritized my health when we started our company 15 yrs ago, I don't think things would have necessarily worked out as well. It wasn't always optimal - life is about choices. Something was always better than nothing.
@Alan_Couzens That makes no sense. Healthy lifestyle doesn’t require that much time
@Alan_Couzens When I started my PhD, I pledged that I would quit if my fitness suffered (because historically low activity = high depression for me). I broke that rule to finish my dissertation and my first book, but only for about 2 months each time.
