Madagascar really looks like it should be way more powerful than it is. That Anglo-Japanese geography.
@AlaskanTzar Zanzibar was Africa’s equivalent of England or Japan though (island off the coast which was the centre of a large Empire)
@AlaskanTzar There’s an entire subreddit dedicated to an alternative history where Madagascar became a great power. reddit.com/r/KOMtimeline/…
@AlaskanTzar Average IQ: 63½, on a good day >> why isn't this Japan?
@AlaskanTzar Madagascar has only one good harbor (the coast is too smooth like the rest of Africa), cannot support big population and was never neighbouring powerful and developed nations to make extensive trade with and develop itself so no, not a chance
@AlaskanTzar That is a good question, though… Wtf are they smoking in Madagascar to let such a good spot go to waste?
@AlaskanTzar Not really, the only flatland they have are covered by dense jungle.
@AlaskanTzar Looks like the Taiwan of Africa
@AlaskanTzar it's an ironclad rule of history: if mangos natively grow on your island, the people will have no desire to raise an empire.
