🚃In February, I met with CTA President Dorval Carter about one of the most pressing concerns I hear from residents: the CTA's unreliability. Since 2019, the CTA has reduced Brown Line service by nearly 30%. This is unacceptable. (1) blockclubchicago.org/2024/04/15/cta…
Pres. Carter assured me that the CTA would be increasing the frequency of service across the City in the spring. The CTA's newest schedule increases Brown Line service by only 1%, while reducing service on the Red, Green, Orange, Pink, and Yellow lines (per @ctaaction data). (2)
Why is the CTA struggling to hire when NYC, DC, and SF have met or exceeded their pre-pandemic staffing levels? Current leadership is failing Chicago riders. Mayor Johnson and Governor Pritzker should appoint a new board and a new president should lead the CTA to recovery. (3)
@AldMattMartin Strong words from a strong leader. Thank you Alderman. You truly are a Socialist for Pritzker.
@AldMattMartin Chicago standards must be much higher than these other agencies.
@AldMattMartin I’d like to see you ask that same specific question of the CTA and please report back what they say. Those cities all enjoy more subsidy funding than CTA does. Do you support raising taxes to match those levels? Also, DC’s system is relatively new and cheaper to run.
@AldMattMartin ABOUT TIME! You tell em, Matt!
@AldMattMartin I've applied for 9 CTA jobs I'm well qualified for and never got a response. Weird.
@AldMattMartin Thank you! The Mayor has totally failed the city.
@AldMattMartin Thanks alderman! This account wouldn’t exist if CTA had reliable service because I would rather use transit than bike most of the time.
@AldMattMartin Most of my friends who love public transit no longer take public transit. They’re not coming back until things change in a big way
@AldMattMartin I disagree with you on a lot but this one I'm lock step all the way on it. World class cities have world class public transportation. Ours has the ability to become one but not with this leadership.
