Chicago is at a crossroads- literally! “We are on the cusp of a historic redesign of the Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street intersection by the city Department of Transportation, and the choices are about a lot more than just some red paint, concrete and bollards."

@AldermanLaSpata Who uses bike Lanes the workers or do liberals
@AldermanLaSpata Let’s start with fixing all the potholes in that area first before we get ahead of ourselves
@AldermanLaSpata The new street redesigns for the safety of bikers force drivers to be super alert.
@AldermanLaSpata Thank you alderman. We were shocked at the meeting when we saw road widening for cars this close to downtown. What’s happening up at Division and Halsted is even worse. An abomination. CDOT is building infrastructure for semi trucks
@AldermanLaSpata Of course this is what you choose to chime in on
@AldermanLaSpata This isn’t rocket science. We can borrow what’s worked in other cities -hell other parts of our own city- and do it. Time and time again, large stroads have proven ineffective at cultivating vibrant urban environments. It’d be a waste for this bustling area to be so car centric
@AldermanLaSpata Thanks, alderman! How can local residents help advocate for better bike lanes at this intersection? (The article is behind a paywall!)
@AldermanLaSpata So glad you’re not my alderman….. The betterment of the 606XX comes first. Shame on you.
@AldermanLaSpata Everyone benefits from safer streets, even if they whine along the way.
@AldermanLaSpata You didn't vote on the casino, so these are the consequences in your eyes or considered progress in the eyes of the 41 who did. Those who see the growth of the city depends on commerce first over recreation.
